@sunshine45 ~ Ah, the memories, thank you!

My M❤️M always used one just like the one in your picture for as long as I could remember.

Everything always came out tender, moist, skins always crispy.  Following moms footsteps, I’ve used one for years as well.  Never disappointed.  Just l❤️ve it!

Who can afford to buy a large chuck roast?  I'd have to mortgage the honestead.

@Kachina624 On special and I also get everything but steaks (we think they aren't aged and lack flavor) at Sams.

We'll get 8 servings from this.

Dinner is almost ready. I'll set you a place.  What kind of dressing would you like on your salad and would you like some freshly grated Parmesan cheese?Smiley Happy

@ECBG.  Yes please!  I know you're  a fabulous cook.

I don't think the black (or blue) speckled roasters with lid can be beat. They're fairly inexpensie, have been used for years by many households, and do a great job with a roast and vegetables, as well as a smaller turkey or breast or roasting chicken. I wouldn't buy one large enough for a good sized turkey though, and then also want to use it for a smaller roast, but that's just my opinion. Buy the pan to fit what you're going to cook most often in it.

I recently had to buy a roast to make soup.  I couldn't find a nice knuckle bone so I got ox tails and a roast.

It was on a quick sale and reduced, but it still wasn't cheap.

I had a Prime rib standing roast for Christmas dinner....I could have made lobster for less.  I don't get the high prices of beef.

@Carmie.  About 1 1/2 - 2 years ago, ranchers were selling beef dirt cheap because of the drought.  They couldn't afford supplemental feed.  They sold off breeding stock.  At the time I mentioned here that people with freezer space should stock up.  Now we're seeing the result.  It's a matter of supply and demand.  No beef on the hoof.  I couldn't even find any Alpo canned dog food today and the price of all brands has zoomed up.

Thank you.  I'm not buying aluminum, that's almost the one I am getting rid of.  I've used it more than I should have.  Aluminum pits.  The metal has been found in brains and is a major player in Alzheimer's and Dementia.

Ohhhhh, I won't mention what I'll probably be eating tonight.  That plate looks scrumptious.

@Kachina624 No problem here with leftovers, from pot roast to mushroom meatloaf, not an issue!
