Urgent Pie Advice needed ASAP - thank you

A friend called me to come to her house urgently - she wants me to help her make an apple pie. The problem is that I can only spend an hour of my time as I have an appointment.  I've never made a crust and baked it immediately. Is it imperative that it has chill time or can we bake it right away?

Thank you!

Buy one of the pie crusts in the refrigerator case.

If your friend has all the usual ingredients and internet check out King Arthur Flours no roll pie crust.   it's press in and go.  All is not lost!  There's always Crumble!

You can bake it right away.  I very seldom use chill time, but I always add ICE water to the crust while I am making it and not room temp water.

Thanks ladies - @Carmie - I always use ice water and frozen butter, so I'll just hope for the best

@Carmie

Thank you for the prompt responses!

She promised to bring pies to a relative's house tomorrow and when her son came home from college he decided they should make them from scratch. Now, the two of them are sweating over it.  I'm like the pie ambulance, lol.

Funny.  If neither of you ever baked a pie crust before, just go to the grocery store and and get a ready made crust.  Or a whole pie, for that matter.  Baking a crust from scratch when you under pressure is tragedy just waiting to happen.  But if you try, you don't have chill it.

@chrystaltree

I've made dozens, if not hundreds of pies, but I've always chilled the crust for at least an hour.  As it turns out, we had enough time to chill it about 20 minutes and it seemed just fine.  He's very proud of his first pie bake. He's an actor - I can't mention his name here, but I told him that when he accepts his first Academy Award he needs to thank me for teaching him to make pies!

And he sent me a picture of it - I only guided him, he did it himself :-)
