I need some help. I made a slow cooker dressing recipe tonight. I made it with chicken broth. I want to make it with turkey broth so we can add turkey drippings to it. Do they make turkey broth in the cans or already prepared. I cant find any.

May I suggest using turkey stock instead of broth? Absolutely up to you, but its a richer flavor and both broth or stock should be readily available in most grocery stores. It also comes in cans or cartons with a variety of brands.

I found one made by Kitchen Basics -turkey stock - that I bought in one of our local grocers. They are out there. Have used it to add to turkey drippings for gravy on Thanksgiving.

Does your store carry Better than Boullion brand? They have one in turkey. It's a base, like a paste in a jar where you add boiling water. Very good.

Thanks I will take a look at the store. I really liked the dressing but I think turkey will give it a better flavor.

I make my own chicken and turkey stock. I also have tried the Better Than Bullion brand and while I agree it is good, it is very salty. If you use it you might want to keep that in mind. Anyway, I always buy a fat chicken for chicken stock and a couple of turkey drumsticks for my turkey stock. I just like it better. I make up several quarts at a time and freeze them until I need them.

I just dont have time to make my own broth. I cant believe swanson doesnt make a turkey broth. If I cant find any turkey I may try the chicken stock and see if that gives it more flavor.

I was just thinking of something. Could you use a jarred or canned turkey gravy in place of broth.

I make my own, too, from roasted turkey wings and drumsticks. I always make my stock the Monday night of Thanksgiving week. Instant bouillon simply has too much salt for us, even the Better than Bouillon stuff.
