I just saw Land O' Lakes for $5.99! Yikes! Lucky for me I bought many pounds last winter around the holidays when it was $2.99 or so per pound. Having an extra freezer has really paid for itself plus some!
I hope to see butter going on sale before Thanksgiving so I can restock!

I mostly use butter for baking - I use very little myself, and when I do it's whipped butter. When I find a good sale, I stock up.
I've been buying it at Aldi's, too, right across the street from Wegmans. BTW, it's the same grade (AA, which is the highest for butter) as the Wegmans and Land o' Lakes brands.
Thanks girls I went to Aldi's and got it for $2.49. I do a lot of baking and I'm going to freeze it.

My Aldi is 2.99 for a box of four sticks. I guess it's a pound box. It tends to go down in price around the hoildays for cooking and baking. I will stock up and freeze then. Wasn't too long ago that it was 1.79. Milk was 3.89 a gallon today.

My Breakstone Lightly Salted Whipped Butter is still on sale: Two 8 oz. containers for $5, the last time I bought it at ShopRite.

Just a year ago, we could find store brand butter on sale for $1.79 to $1.99 per pound. Yesterday, I saw it as high as $4.59 per pound, I though I would faint. We dropped using margarine years ago. I try to keep 15 or 20 pounds in the deep freeze (take out of the carton and vacuum seal with Food Saver, will keep just fine for several years), but my supply is shrinking. I do a lot of holiday baking, so I may have to break down and pay more. I'm not a happy camper about that!

I'm so jealous! I'd have frozen at least 20 lbs at that price!

I wait tll around Thanksgiving to stock up when it is usually marked way down at the grocery stores; I usually buy it at Costco but don't remember what I paid for it since as been a long time since I last bought any. I think everything dairy has gone up; ice cream sure has.
