ST PATRICK'S DAY -CORNED BEEF-HOW TO

I am cooking my flat corned beef in a crock pot on  low  for 8-9 hours. Easy to do. I am wondering how those of you cooking this will make it.

Will it be on the stove top? oven? or?

I also will make roasted carrots, cabbage with bacon and mashed potatoes separately. I don't like them in the crock pot with the corned beef.

HAPPY HOLIDAY TO ALL.

@Flatbush.  I like your idea of the roasted veg and mashed separately.  I'd like to do that too but since time is short for me on Friday the carrots & potatoes will go in the last 1/2 hour to 45 mins once the corned beef is out of the crock pot resting. I'll cook same amount of time as you on low; so convenient isn't it?!

If I am making something, I usually wonder if I can use the crock pot for it. You are right, it is so convenient.

I always make turkey legs in it too. I can purchase them all year long and they are so reasonable compared to beef.

Enjoy your  Holiday meal.

@Flatbush.  Same to you enjoy your meal as well. Only time we have turkey legs is the annual Renaissance Faire, how do you prepare yours in the crock pot?

@rockygems123 I just wash and pat dry, pop them in, pour some chicken stock on them. Maybe sprinkle some onion bits and some garlic too. If I am lazy,  use the garlic and onion powders instead. Put on high, for 4? hours and that's it.

If you cook the vegetables separately (potatoes, cabbage, and whatever else you add)....be sure and scoop some "cornbeef WATER" out of the crockpot to use for the vegetable liquid.    You don't have to wait til the meat is finished to do this....

I'm fixing this for the first time on Sunday (can't eat meat on Fridays during Lent). I've been looking up recipes to do it in a crock pot. I found several that sound good.

I do my corned beef in the crock pot too.  When it is done, I strain the cooking water into a large pot and cook my cabbage, little red potatoes, carrots, celery and onion in it.

Just as @Desertdi @suggested!
