I bought this up some time ago about having trouble with assembling the lid on my processor bowl. Every time I used the thing I 'd have to take on and off the lid thinking I had it on right each time.
I've learned, lately, that you have to listen for the lock and click. These things have so many darn safety features built in that is the modern day trouble especially with Kitchen Aid.
The bowl , you can hear it click into place, ok, now, they got the lid to where if you don't hear that same lock and click your not going to get nothing done. I watched the ka promo and they describe and show you on different models how to get the things to work .
Think I've figured it out, finally.

I hear you. Bought a ka stand mixer a few years ago and when I took it out to try it, I was so overwhelmed with everything about it, that I put it back into the box and never touched it again. it was such a good deal I think if I remember a tsv, and it was holiday time. I just had to have it. So when I saw the mini ka, I bought it. I hope I have better luck with that one, it looks more my speed!

I got a KA food processor many years ago. When I went to use it for the first time. I struggled with the top, and ended up breaking part of it. It still worked, and I'm glad I didn't give up on it. I have to say that I don't use it a lot, but it comes in handy for some jobs. Give it another chance.

Hi Sharke: I bought the KA 13 cup FP when it was on a weekend sale for $199 a few weeks ago. I'm not having trouble with the lid locking but I am struggling with how hard the buttons are to push! Is anyone else having this problem? I'm not a weakling nor is my husband but he says they are very hard also. I called KA cust. serv. and they said they are stiff but I shouldn't have to use 2 fingers to get the machine to work (which I have to use). KA said they will loosen up some with use. QVC said they would take it back as defective and not charge me to ship it back but it's such a hassle to return. They don't know if or when they will get them in again and the Cobalt Blue that I have is sold out. I'm in a quandry!

just push harder is what I'd do. Once I got the hang of that dang click and lock feature I have to pudge the power buttons, also. I got mine sitting on a piece of non skid liner like you would use for shelf paper. I'm usually so tickled that I got the lid on right that I don't mind if I have to push hard
LOL good thing about walmart cheap stuff you don't have all this **** safety features to contend with. I miss my Oster food processor. that was lock the bowl give the lid a swing and your off. sheesh......
I'm all for quality goods, but, they need not to make it so hard for the average housewife.

@Sharke - I agree that manufacturers need to make things easier to use. All the attachments with this food processor are overwhelming and I'm not a novice cook. I had a Cuisinart 7 cup FP for 30 yrs. until we couldn't slide the lid off from the locked position. Hubby had to use a rubber mallet! It only had one spindle to use for all blades. I have to admit, the dicing kit is awesome. Everything was diced before I even used the food pusher. I'll keep trying but they need to improve this. Glad you figured out the lid. I do like that the all purpose blades lock into place so you don't have to remove them before emptying out the work bowl.

yeah, that's true. Guess we all want quality goods , then, when we get it I gripe because it's got to many bells and whistles and safety features. LOL
Think I got the 'red' stuff cornered for now. LOL
Heads up for the folks who bought the Wolfgang deep fryer over the weekend.
You want to let it cool down before you push the button that starts the draining process you don't want to melt the plastic container. They say you can, but, I used my own common sense and let it cool down, then, pushed the drain button (keep it plugged in) it drains for awhile, then, you hear the intermittant pops which is normal, but, you want to start it before U go to bed or hearing that popping and humming sound might scare you. LOL
I got mine draining right now should be done by 10. I'll use it again Sat when the ball and chain is home. LOL

Mine was just about 14-15 months old when it "bit the dust". I had trouble with the digital touch buttons then one day it just died!!! Called KA no help.
If you are having trouble now I would suggest you forego the color and perhaps get a Cuisinart or other make.
I didnt get the great price you did from Q but I did get my Cuisinart from Macy's at a great price & it's 4 years old so far it's my workhorse piece. I do everything in this fp from small to big heavy jobs!

I love you display your pieces. I don't have a big kitchen (galley style) and I would definitely be a "red" small appliance lover like you if I did!!!
