This is one of the silliest concepts ever. If I wanted a GB as Rachel calls it, I would pull one out of my cupboard and use it. No need to purchase a special bowl. But if I felt I must have a special GB, I would buy one for $1.00 at the Dollar Tree.
As it stands, I have a garbage disposal that a lot of things go down as I'm cooking and I take 2 steps to my garbage can and toss everything else in it.

I dump it out there even in the snow and bury it so that when the snow melts it will be in my veggie garden. I will then till it into the soil in the Spring. My grandfather used to do this for his gardens and he had the most beautiful plants and veggies. I would not use it for cans and regular trash, I have a garbage can that pulls out of my cabinets for that.
Yikes! You keep this bowl full of garbage next to your kitchen sink for days before you take it outside? PeeUuu! I would think it would be quite smelly by then. JMO.
Not really. I usually dump mine after two or three days. And I don't consider it "garbage." I consider it food scraps that will turn into wonderful garden soil.

Can't any bowl technically be used as a garbage bowl?

Then my SIL got one and was in love with it for mixing in it on granite counter tops, no slippage with rubber bottom. She uses for everything except microwave.
I got it and just love this bowl! The red is very pretty and I ended up getting my daughter a purple one. I also love the feel of this bowl and rubber bottom.
Thanks for the recommendation. I love that it has non slip on the bottom and this bowl looks like a great mixing bowl that is nicer than the stainless steel mixing bowl that I already have and use daily. My stainless steel bowl slips all over the counter.
The idea of throwing scraps, cans, etc into one bowl does indeed save steps. I am a neat cook and cannot stand a mess on the counter. If I have a carton or a bag from meat or vegetables I throw the scraps in there. Surely this bowl is nicer. For those having such a hard time understanding this bowl, do you really think $16.99 is that expensive for a mixing bowl/utility bowl? I don't. Sure I can go to the dollar store and buy a plastic bowl, but why would I want to. I already have a stainless bowl that slides on the counter just as that plastic one would. It seems that just because Rachael's name is on it it is automatically silly to some posters. Who cares. The price is right and it is functional. It is a multi use bowl that looks nice...for $16.99. Get over it people.

IMO---just use a bowl that you already have. What a waste of money!!!

I agree. I've never had a garbage bowl or needed one, and can't imagine why a regular bowl wouldn't do just as well. What's special about this bowl that I'm not understanding?
But yes, of course - Everyone certainly should do whatever they think will make their lives easier or happier.

I don't understand BUYING a garbage bowl. What a marketing idea ! Why not just designate a bowl for that purpose, if not able to take your garbage directly to the trash ??????
What have people done for centuries before she "invented" the garbage bowl ????? REALLY.
A great rip off !

LOL, I don't understand why people obsess over what other people like and spend their money on. No I don't have one, but they're cute bowls and if someone buys one who cares.
I saw some interesting bowls at Walmart the other day, they were with the corelle ware. One of those might make a nice bowl.

Wouldn't any old container, or extra disposable grocery bag, do...?

Absolutely, just grab whatever you have handy in the cabinet. I do. I won't pay for one that is suppose to be for garbage. Of course, RR's bowl could be used for serving I guess. It's just not for me. Sometimes I just pull out the garbage can and use it depends on what I'm doing.
