The idea of the garbage bowl is a good one, and I actually use one when I am cooking...but frankly, this is just a means to sell something extra.
The bowls are nice and all...but unecessary. Any bowl can be a garbage bowl.

On her 30 minute meals shows, she used a garbage bowl as a place to temporarily toss everything without running back and forth to the trash can. She would peel garlic or onions, for example, and toss the skins in. Then she would open cans of beans, dump the beans into whatever she was making, and toss the cans in the bowl. If she made something with meat or wrapped packaging (like butcher paper), it also went into the bowl. She had a tight timeline to get everything done in the 30 minutes, so it was a timesaver for her.
I absolutely understand how she uses it and think that's pretty smart. What I don't understand why one needs to purchase a special bowl for this instead of using a bowl you already have in the house. She's selling something you don't need to accomplish the task - again, she's pretty smart.

If you just want to use the bowl for scraps while you are cooking, slicing, chopping and dicing you can buy one at Walmart for one dollar, $1.00.

It's just a bowl.

I guess I don't know why someone doesn't just use a bowl you already have while you're prepping food. Not being snarky. If you like and enjoy, then great.
If I'm peeling vegetables or chopping I put a plastic grocery bag in the sink for all the 'scraps'.

When I make dinner I usually take meat or something out of the fridge that is in a disposable shopping bag. I then leave the bag on the counter and put all the veggie scraps, meat trays etc in that bag. When I'm done I tie it up and take it out to the trash. Quick, easy and free. No bowl to wash or store, perfect.

This is what I do too.

Yes. I never thought her bowl was that attractive. Good idea to have something handy though. I use a container from Dollar Tree.

I get a kick out of how many people think it's ridiculous for people to buy a pretty bowl that they like, happen to enjoy the various colors available, etc. It's just like anything else. See a piece of clothing or jewelry that they like, they buy it. By some people's standards, if you already own a dress or some jewelry, it would be stupid to buy a different one.
