Re: Putting Instant Pot up for adoption

Owned a pressure cooker years ago. Never liked how the food tasted.

So proud to say this is the one hot trending item I never purchased.

Now for the all the items I gave away, donated, threw out it probably has been in the thousands of dollars.

We have a 3 qt. and a 6 qt. and use them almost daily for: rice, eggs, chili, quick soups, veggies, salmon, pork tenderloins, beans, lentils, pea soup, and a lot of other things.

It's great when you have leftovers--pop a silicon lid on and store it, then reheat in the same pot.   You can make a quick soup out of anything almost, and it's wonderful.  You can brown then cook in the same pot too!

@Sooner @Would you mind sharing your IP salmon recipe?  I tend to stick with soups, beans, stews in my Instant pot and would like to try salmon for a change.  Normally I just sauté salmon in a pan.

I've had mine for about 2 years now and haven't used it yet.  It seems so complicated.  Wish I never bought it in the first place.

Woman Embarassed  @shoesnbags I don't really have a recipe as such.  We have about 4 to 6 oz. fillets that we put in the IP in a steamer basket or on top of a steamer rack or one of those silicone steamer baskets.  We use about 5 minutes at pressure, release and check for doneness.  IF it isn't as cooked as we like, we do another minute under pressure.

We often put the fillets on top of potatoes, cabbage or broccoli then cook.  Just get creative with veggies you like that cook in about the same time.  We like potatoes and broccoli--and sort of eat them together because the broccoli gets really done!  We also do a lot of sweet potatoes in the IP--of course with salmon it's an ORANGE meal!

You can cook the salmon in sauce or not, we just put teriyaki sauce or lemon or lime juice on the salmon.

I make chicken soup in 20 minutes. That is using frozen chicken. I can make BBQ chicken in about 30 minutes from frozen 15 minutes in the IP, and 10 minutes under the broiler. Stuffed peppers in 15 minutes. Delicious and fast. I love mine!

@Kachina624   Agreed! Instant pot is the best for HB eggs! Worth its weight in gold just for that!

I'm satisfied with the occasionally used CrockPot.  I know Instant Pot has been the rage for a while, but I never felt the need to take the plunge.  I'm really not a gadget person.

Pressure cookers are hardly innovative gadgets.  They are a proven cooking method, having been around for at least 75 years.  Being electric just makes them easier to use.
