I recently purchased the pork pot stickers and I found they were pretty good, but.. they would be better if there was a dipping sauce, does anyone have any suggestions.

I usually use soy sauce or teriyaki sauce with the pot stickers.

Like she was talking about there are several kinds at the grocery. I like sweet and sour, there is mustard, duck sauce. I want to try the new cheeseburger ones too.

When we get them from the Chinese restaurant they come with a soy sauce and ginger type sauce. I looked in the section of the grocery store that carries Chinese products and found a soy ginger sauce and it tastes exactly the same as what we get at the Chinese restaurant. It is very good on pork pot stickers. I hope that you can find something that you like.

I went through a pot sticker phase a few months ago! Yummy! There are tons of different recipes & combinations for dipping sauces.

These are 2 dipping sauces from Andrea Nguyen's book "Asian Dumplings". The 1st is loosely adapted.

Soy Dipping Sauce

stir together:

1/4 cup soy sauce

2 1/2 - 3 tablespoons rice wine vinegar

1/2 teaspoon sugar (or add a bit more if you like it sweeter)

optional additions:

1-3 teaspoons hot chili oil

1 Tablespoon freshly grated ginger

1 teaspoon finely minced garlic

1 small scallion, thinly sliced

1/2 teaspoon dark sesame oil

Sweet & Sour Dipping Sauce

1/4 cup sugar or light brown sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon ketchup

1 tablespoon soy sauce

3 tablespoons rice wine vinegar, or cider vinegar

1/2 cup water

2 teaspoons cornstarch dissolved in 2 tablespoons water

Directions:

1. Combine the sugar, salt, ketchup, soy sauce, vinegar & water in a small saucepan. Bring to a near boil over medium heat, stirring to dissolve the sugar. Give the cornstarch slurry a stir, & add it to the pan. Continue cooking, stirring for about 15 seconds until sauce comes to a full boil & thickens.

2. Remove from heat, transfer to a bowl & set aside 10 minutes to cool down. Taste, & add a bit more salt, if needed. Can be prepared a day in advance.

*This peanut sauce recipe is from Antilope, a poster here. It's good! I found that nuking the ingredients for a few seconds helped to emulsify the ingredients.

Thai Style Peanut Dipping Sauce

4 tbsp peanut butter (smooth or crunchy)

2 tbsp salad oil

4 tbsp soy sauce

4 tbsp granulated sugar

4 tbsp distilled vinegar

1 tsp toasted sesame oil

2 tsp Sriracha hot chili sauce (more or less to taste)

1/8 tsp ground coriander

Mix well with whisk.

Schwans has really good pot stickers and they come with sauce packets. Two of the ingredients in the sauce are soy and hoisin. I usually dilute their sauce down a little with water and some soy.

I get this one from Amazon. It's Dynasty brand and called Potsticker-Gyoza dipping sauce. I like it very much. It's soy, sesame oil, and a couple other ingredients. Anyway, I usually get three 5oz bottles for $12-$15. Those three bottles last me a VERY long time.
