I love fall and winter but I'm really enjoying the fresh produce from my garden. It's been a weird summer, lots of thunderstorms and not as hot as usual.

I do not ever want the summer to end. I hate the dreary barren days of late fall and winter. I find the short days depressing, I love the sun, the heat, the long days, the outdoor activities, people outside, and all the beautiful colors, sounds, smells, and flowers of spring and summer. Summer seems so short but winter drags on forever, and we are not in the North anymore, but I still dread it!

house_cat, I'm sorry your days have been tough. Better days ahead for you... Blessings
Regarding this thread, with the recent Midwest winter, I'm thinking I experienced SAD, or seasonal affective disorder, for the first time last winter. Husband and I decided to strongly consider snow birding in January and February, once he retires full time. I love looking outside and seeing summer sunlight until 9pm. Truly don't know how northern most countries do it that have sun sets at 4pm during winter.

Fall is my favorite season. I'm not fond of heat and humidity. We've been lucky that it's been a cooler summer, so far. Yesterday and today were over 90, but it drops back to 70's tomorrow. It's kind of unusual, but it's my kind of temps. I'd be happy to get through the rest of the season with no more 90's.

No, OP, you're not alone. I like the longer days for a change, but most definitely prefer cooler temperatures. I'm always ready for fall...

We even had rain yesterday and later this afternoon. I'm in North Carolina.I do not ever want the summer to end. I hate the dreary barren days of late fall and winter. Nope. You are not alone on cooler weather and shorter days. We have had a rather mild summer after a horrible winter. But now the heat has hit for a few days and I am just as "house bound" as I was in the winter. Cannot take temps in the high 90's. And neither can the dog. Her walks have shortened considerably. Cannot wait until fall and cool, crisp air to breathe. They are calling for 70's here next week. I can settle for that. Back outdoors we go when it gets here. Actually, I start bringing out fall decor in the middle of Aug. since I look forward to it so much.

Central PA -- We've had our hot spells, but then it cools down again. What's really nasty this summer is the humidity. It's so sticky it's terrible. We have a mountain for our view out of the front door and I can't tell you how many times, it's been so muggy that our mountain has all but disappeared. I like the heat, I'm a summer girl, but that humidity has been nasty lately.
The cats are really minding it, too. They're way more active during the early morning hours, running and jumping at 4:00 in the morning and then calming down once the sum comes up and the humidity comes back for the day. Last night our low was 70 degrees.

I like it cool but like the light, too. I get depressed with lack of sunlight. I need to find a state with the best of both and move there.

We lived in New England for about five years, and I never saw nearly enough snow. Loved every flake of it. I'm definitely a winter person and down here I haven't enjoyed a winter in about 40 years. Yes, it's a little cooler, but we usually only have one week of really cold weather which comes in late January or early February.
I hate the boiling hot, muggy summers here. You can't enjoy being outside - if the hear and the bugs don't get you, the humidity will. Both are usually in the mid to high 90's. So far we haven't had any hundred temps, but that will surely come soon.
I'd gladly give up summer altogether, and I'm definitely through with it for 2014.
