Ok, Instant Pot Goddesses....I'm seriously considering the 3 quart size...do any of you use your instant pot to make beans?  If so, how do they turn out? Given my food allergies, etc. beans are a huge part of my diet and I'm looking for a way to make them quickly from dry.  Thanks in advance for any information shared.  I greatly appreciate it.

@Misplaced Parisian   Did I ever answer you on the 3 qt?  We have one for the two of us and absolutely love it.  We use it way more than the 6 quart for small batches of soups or beans, hard-boiled eggs, veggies and a lot of other things.  It is great!

If you want enough beans to freeze several batches it isn't big enough for that, but for a few servings it is great.

@Sooner  Thank you for your response.  I truly appreciate it.  I did purchase the 3 quart, but haven't tried it out yet.  Small batches of beans is exactly what I need.  Happy Cooking!

@Misplaced Parisian I'm glad it was helpful and I hope you love it!  You actually can cook chicken breasts and pork tenderloin in it, smaller batches of chili are so easy, soups, stews etc.

We really love it because it is small and does a meal wonderfully.  The Le Creuset cookbooks taught me that to cook really well, food should fit the pot.  A pot too small is, of course a disaster, but a pot too big will either steam away the liquid, or have food swimming in liquid, which is a problem with a lot of crockpots, because the food releases steam and it drips back down.

So the food should fill the pot well without running over!  And really, you do get better results.  I remember thinking they were nuts on how big a chicken would fit a certain size le creuset pot, but discovered I had been cooking poor little birds in those great big pots and they were too dry.

@Sooner  That makes sense.  Due to food allergies and idiosyncrasies my pot will be bean pot.  Smiles.  I made a pot of cranberry beans which will be made into a yummy tomato/beans/mushroom/Italian seasoning casserole!  Smiley Happy  Again, thank you for all the insight you graciously shared with me.  I appreciate it.

Re: New Instant Pot Model (Duo Evo Plus)

Kachina, there are MANY improvements to the Duo Evo Plus in addition to the handles. In my opinion, this IP is a game-changer. Certainly enough improvements to make me upgrade which I did. Watch the video linked to and see if you don't agree. IP collected user suggestions for improvement and incorporated them into this model.

See Barbara Schieving's excellent review of this model here:

Don't know how long it will last, but Williams-Sonoma of all places has a fantastic price on the 6 qt. Duo Evo Plus at the moment. $89.95 plus free shipping.

@Razzy 7 Thanks.  I grabbed one for several reasons: new steam vent; more selections on foods and cooking times; flat bottom for searing.

I am upset however that the old pot from the one I have won't fit because of the handles.  I haven't had a problem getting the pots out at all.  But the new steam vent looks like a huge improvement.  HATE the current one!
