I own a KitchenAid.  It's about 5 years old.  Cleans dishes perfectly and have to listen closely if it's on -- super quiet.

I also have a KitchenAid. Not sure how old it is - probably over 15 years old. Very pleased with everything about it.

Looks like a hit or miss by any brand...More research for me!  Thanks for all input.

@bargainsgirl - Just remember to take account of which brands have more "misses" than "hits".  Woman Wink

Paying more upfront can work out better in the long run.  (My Bosch 18 years ago was around $600.  About $33 a year for a very reliable dishwasher?)

Good luck with your search and come back and let us know what you decide!

Can you tell me the model?  I know there is a wide price range and I need to stay under $700.  Thanks!

@bargainsgirl - The model numbers wouldn't be the same after all these years.  The best thing to do would be to look at the Consumer Reports recommended models that another poster listed earlier in this thread.

Today at Costco there was an 800 series Bosch dishwasher and a Kitchen Aid next to each other.  Not sure what model the KA was but wow what a HUGE difference in quality.  The rack felt like hanger wires in the KA and the door was light.  Both stainless.  I will check out the 100 and 300 series because this nice 800 is over $1300.  Some lower Bosch models can be had for $700-800 more my budget...still researching...

Still searching and deciding on a dishwahser...I have 2 I like...A GE and  a Whirlpool.  Both similar, 3rd rack, all stainless inside and out.  Sale price $600.  Tending towards the Whirlpool.  It has a few less minor items than the GE.  Less to break!

What I have in my kitchen is a Kenmore, so I suppose that's out of the question, no?  (Sears gone now?).     I don't use it anymore, since it's just me but I was always pleased with it and it has to be pretty old, as it was in this house when we purchased the house just over 25 years ago.

But here's one thing that comes to mind for me when looking -  Look for something that's QUIET.    This one has been very quiet and I appreciate that.  I've heard some make a lot of racket while in use so if that's an issue, there are good choices out there.  Smiley Happy

I've also always heard good things about the Bosch brand.

Most of the newer dishwashers are quiet now.  I am not looking for Bosch quiet and would not pay the price for those machines even though they get such high ratings.  I'd rather spend more $ on a washing machine.
