DD and I found the farmers market in out new town---yesterday was opening day and wow!! were there alot of tents there!! I bought some lovely asparagus, tiny potatoes , some sweet potatoe biscuits and a delicious loaded hot dog for lunch!! there were many other vendors with all sorts of crafty things--one nice lady had a booth where she made all sorts of bird feeders, asst hanging things out of thrifted clear glass vintage cups, saucers, trays and the like. I recognized many of them as I have alot of the cut glass stuff from my MIL--didn't buy any as I have no where to hang them but sure were pretty. Was fun and the weather around here has been spectacular lately.

I just love a Farmers Market with all the produce, baked goods and crafts. I'm happy you have one in your home town.😌

@wagirl Our Farmer's Markets are open year round for us and we frequently go. Each season offers different things so you don't always know what you'll find. I love the fresh produce.

@wagirl I love the local farmer's market! Ours just opened for the summer season yesterday as well.
They will have it going thought the winter only 2x a month and it's much smaller. Yesterday it was fully open and I can't wait for more summer produce!
They also have a few crafts and prepared baked goods. There are some local muscians playing as well.

They are opening in the Denver area, but our produce won't be fresh from local growers until mid July. Don't know where they're bringing it in from. I'll wait for the real stuff.

We have several indoor farmers markets near me open year around and several outdoor markets seasonally.
They are nice, but way too expensive. The prices are ridiculous. I might go if I need something special, but certainly not for weekly shopping.
I noticed the indoor markets get their produce boxed in from companies the same as the grocery store. The shipping boxes are stacked right there.
At our summer place, there is an Amish farmer who sells produce and baked goods. I do buy there in the summer, but not the baked goods. I bought an apple pie for my husband and he said it was awful...had to throw it out.
I can't wait until summer to grow my own. I do like to go and check out the crafty stuff, though. That's always fun.

New Joisey farmers markets, Amish markets & Produce Junctions are open all year round.
Philly's Italian Market is open all year round.

Ours begin in June and end in October. Love just strolling through and looking at all of the fresh produce.

@Carmie --Yes--I agree about the prices--I want to support the local farmers and understand what they are going thru but it is hard. I think my lovely bunch of asparagus was almost $10--got over a pound--yikes!!! but it was fantastic!! But I do enjoy all the local crafts and the food---WOW!!! I try to buy organic--have an Asian market close by, that has amazing produce.
