Black licorice is something you either really love or can't tolerate. I'm one who has never been able to tolerate the black licorice flavor.

I've never heard of "swedish fish".
Ingredients on AMZN:
"sugar, modified corn starch, mineral oil.
Mineral oil? Great!
That should keep me regular! LOL!

Well, guess what?
BLACK Twizzlers also have mineral oil.
Great!

@RinaRina There really isn't a good substitute, because everything is a trigger. If you ask a true licorice addict what color licorace is, they will always say it is only black. All other colors are just candy. I've been on and off the licorice wagon for many years now. I have found that I have to go cold turkey. My daughter buys me licorice "pipes" (my favorite) for Christmas, and that's it. When they're gone, they're gone. There are many licorice addict blogs out there on the internet. One tip that most of us know is that your piece of licorice will last longer if it's stale or frozen. I think the stale results in less broken teeth - hahaha!

lol, probably not so healthy if you need it every day, but so darn good!
@sunshine45 My favorite way to drink Sambuca is to sip it through a licorice "straw!" YUM!

Hilo, I at one time was give a anti-biotic and was a short term prescription and it constipated me, and I told the Doctor and he said "Just Eat Some Black Licorice" and I laughed all the way home, so shocked because I had a Aunt that was a nurse and she told me never to eat black licorice because she said it caused a person to get clogged arteries. I know The Doctor didn't say go home and eat 12 bags of the stuff or anything like that but I told her, and she said Oh he's just a quack. I loved that memorie. Just thought I'd share it with you.

This isn't any help, but a few months ago my girlfriend got me hooked on a brand of Australian black licorice. It's so soft and 0 any brand as long as It's from Australia is so dang habit forming. Found some at Marshalls for $3 for a 17 oz. bag. Once the bag is opened, there is no stopping until It's gone. There's a bag in the pantry that's calling my name.

My addiction is Good and Plenty. They are also licorice-flavored. I would never think of buying just one box of them. I never leave a store with no less than 3 boxes. lol
