Lock n lock Bowls or Various Sizes

[ Edited ]

boy my variety of LNL got a lot of use over these past few days. I had ordered back in October the nestable rectangular ones -- all perfect sizes and perfect for stacking in frig.

I have round ones which are OLD and  not holding a good seal. Of course, I may have purchased them when they were first on Q, so I've gotten my $ worth!

I went to category and there are no bowls except Christmas. Plus, I don't see any variety sets.

Is this brand being "phased out" I hope not!  I haven't seen them in local stores and the LNL site is expensive and they don't offer bundles.

I thought I saw in my December Q Insider upcoming TSV (can't find my newest issue) if so, please share info.

Thank you and I hope you all had a nice Christmas.

There is a Lock n Lock TSV on January 13. Looks like a variety of bowls and  rectangle ones.

4 bowls, 4 square, 4 rectangular.  $25.  They look life like they are a good size for leftovers.

Re: Lock n lock Bowls or Various Sizes

Q doesn't always have a very big selection of Lock and Lock. Usually when they are gearing up for an all day cook event, or it seems like in the summer, they will have more.

I'm not a fan of Lock and Lock bowls (although I do have a number of them) as they ALL leak. I've never received one of their bowls that is truly water tight. I just make sure what I have in them, and how I handle them.

In general, I think Q could do better with their Lock and Lock offerings. They especially need more larger size pieces.

@Mominohio

I've never had a container leak, stain or otherwise.  I'm wanting to replace them only because they are "old & tired" and I can see after many dishwasher visits the seals are getting a little worn.

As for others, thank you for the info on the TSV.  I found my Insider and ordered them today.  I think this was excellent price for what is offered in the set.

Does anyone know the item # for the January 13th TSV? Thanks!

Nor have I. And I have bought tons of L&L over the years.

I've had this same reply many times when we have discussed Lock and Locks on these forums. I must have a real run of bad luck, or others aren't putting them to the same test I do!

I have had lock and lock for many, many years. I do notice that the newer pieces aren't as well made as the older ones, the seals aren't as thick and chunky. For most of the years I bought, I stayed with the original clear sets with the blue seals, and they are much thicker than my newer pieces with colored lids and clear seals. I have picked up some of those 'original' blue seal sets just this year at TJ Maxx and they still have thicker seals and stronger locking tabs, than those clear sealed ones in the colored lids.

I have wondered if L&L might be manufacturing a lesser quality line in general these days, or maybe just for QVC sometimes.

All my square/rectangle pieces are water tight, but every single bowl I've ever purchased, when filled with water and turned on it's side and shaken, will leak. Every one, every time. And often I don't even have to shake them, just tip them sideways. I have removed the seals, stored them without the lids on so the seals don't get too 'compressed' and anything else I could come up with to get them not to leak.

I remember back in the day when Chris would put spagetti sauce in a square or rectangle, then shake it over the host's head, nothing leaked. And correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they used to put cotton candy or something like that in a L&L, then place the container, completely submerged in  water, then open the container to show the sugar didn't get wet?  They don't do those demos anymore, and in my experience it is because they are not longer as reliable as they once were.

I still love my Lock and Lock, and still buy newer sets, especially the larger pieces, but like most things today, they aren't what they once were, at least not all of them.
