I love kitchen stuff & lord knows I didn't need another cakepan but the rep Marie Louise Ludwig made it look so "easy" and perfect squares figured what the heck.
Well, couple of things - came with no directions I guess they figured how hard could it be🤔
I watched the video to see exactly how to use it.
Concept is good but I think there's a "learning" curve and ofcourse, I think it probably works better for brownies vs. cake.
I experimented tonight because we are having a "zoom birthday party" for GD tomorrow night & hey gotta have cake right🙂. She got her bday cake from Carlos Bake Shop in Hoboken, NJ from Buddy Valestro-- we get home baked so we can have piece with her..
Anyway, this is a fun concept, easy to do and nice to ice. I just inserted grid back in place, put in fridge to cool. I think I rushed and should have let the icing set longer in fridge to have "neater" edges. (I needed to leave 6 pieces plain as I'm putting coconut on them, spouse not a sprinkle candy guy)
All in all, I think this pan is gonna be a favorite. Just wanted to share it works!
Now lets eat some good bday cake vanilla with swiss meringue icing May bday friends & sing Happy Birthday!!
I'm gonna use it to make carrot cake squares for Friday staff treat.

That looks wonderful but I do not think for myself I would like it. I have a special rule that any crumbs or funny looking pieces belong to me. Also those "misfit/damaged" portions and crumbs have no calories. Your new find would be too perfect ![]()

I came back to tell everyone -- the insert pan is VERY FLIMSY...so you definitely need to be careful when lifting it out of pan😳.
Almost had major bday cake disaster....well, then I could have either had "crumb cake" or "cake pops"!!!

@homedecor1 If I may ask a question please. How does the Meringue icing taste compared to 7 Minute icing if you happen to know. Thank you.![]()

I just learned from a very good fellow baker they are the same thing just different names🤷♀️
This is recipe I use was from many moons ago from a original baking show with Martha Stewart.

@homedecor1 I was thinking the butter in the meringue and the karo syrup in the 7 Minute would have a different flavor. My grandmother did quite a few cakes with her tiny Sunbeam mixer when I was growing up, although, I was always on a horse, not in a kitchen. Her coconut cakes were delicious. I noticed the difference reading the recipes.

Hmmmm maybe this will help....

@homedecor1 Thank you. I noticed they both had that pretty white gloss.
She didn't make a lot of cakes with frosting. Mostly, she had a big butter pound cake on the counter, which I rarely ate. It took years for me to like any cake without frosting.

@homedecor1 - This pan is identical in concept to the Copper Chef brownie pan with adjustable insert and lifter (sometimes also referred to as the "Perfect Bake Pan"). If you Google phrases along those lines, you can find an instruction manual and recipe guide that may be useful to you. I own two of the CC pans and gave one as a gift, and they really do a fantastic job. Just FYI, for some applications such as cake, I actually find it easier to bake without the insert and then use it after the fact to cut even slices in the finished product (either before or after frosting). Happy baking! ![]()
ETA: The QVC item number for the CC pan was K46615; there is still a video posted for the item that could give you some ideas...
