Re: Just Bought My First Piece of Fiestaware

Hello all!

Oceantown...glad you had a good trip and you had good weather. Seattle area weather can be so unpredictable! Today when I woke up it was in the 40's, overcast and grey and now it is sunny and in the 60's. The kitchen store you talked about in Port Townsend is one of my favorites. I don't get to Port Townsend very often but make it a point when I do to stop in that store. I've avoided the place in Pike's Market because it is close to where I work and would be too much of a temptation! I love the 'flowered' items you found and they look great with your Fiesta blues.

Surprise...love the photo of Mango! You really should post it on the Fiesta facebook page. He blends so well with those colors!

Shoekitty...I grew up in California and lived all over the state. The only time I experienced humid hot weather was in San Diego during the summer. We have it here in the PNW sometimes and I can't stand it. I'm one of those that loves the grey skies and rain.

Donasmom...its great that you are settling in and that the former owners were Fiestanistas too. That's good karma!

Now...for my confession {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}...its my bday soon and I decided to treat myself and add some new things to my fiesta collection! I placed an order with dishesfast because I wanted to get some items in the retired colors before dishesfast is gone. The box came today and it was like Christmas! I have no idea where I'm going to put these things because my small kitchen is running out of room but the colors are so pretty! I ordered a few items in heather, persimmon and marigold. They go great with my other colors.

The Macy's I was at the other day had their Poppy plate just sitting on the display and not in the plastic display box like the other Macy's I was in. So...I was able to put it with some other colors. I like Poppy but think its too bright a color to go with the others that I have so I may just pass. I don't know yet...I'll have to try it out when the pieces are actually in. (I passed up Marigold for the same reason and now I'm sorry I did!)

RainGirl--neat idea to send yourself a BD gift of Fiesta. It has been interesting to hear everyone's report on Poppy. I had my BD a while ago and just saved my money until I could decide if I wanted to add Poppy to my collection. I hope to see Poppy in person next week.

Re: Just Bought My First Piece of Fiestaware

Hi, RainGirl,

Thanks for the reply! We did not expect the weather to be so nice & warm in Seattle. It was just perfect. Enjoyed the Pandora Jewelry store in WestLake Center too. Of course had to stop at See's Candy. It is such a great place to visit & shop. The Cheesecake Factory too!!

I can see why you try to avoid the temptation of going to Kitchen Basics. That place is amazing. That is the first time I have seen the small heart bowls in person. Some of the vases I have never seen in person. I took a couple photos from the outside of the store with the shelves of fiesta visible. What a site for fiesta lovers, lol.

The store in Port Townsend is so nice. You must really enjoy being able to pop in there.

Have you gone to Cherry Blossom, the consignment store in Port Townsend? There was a seller that was bringing in Fiesta. That is where I got my small size turquoise disc pitcher and medium size mixing bowl in rose.

Discovery Bay..... beautiful!

Port Gamble was a great stop too with all the beautiful historical houses (shops). We went to a tea house there.

Well, we just really enjoyed Washington, and look forward to our next trip there.

Happy Birthday to you! It sounds like you chose some great pieces for your order. It is so much fun to open those packages when they arrive!

Moving tv's and such can be quite an ordeal. I remember shortly after we decorated the living room many years ago, we put up this huge, huge mirror ( my husband did anyway). I hated it on the wall it was on right away. But it was too late, my husband the engineer, has laser plummed it, molly bolted it, and earthquake enforced it. Took us 15 years before I moved it. Now I just hate the mirror, but am stuck with it. It took a couple hours to put just the mirror up. All home projects with my husband is an ordeal. He even draws PLANS in his "book", to hang something. If he fixes the plumbing, he draws plans, and the results with new pieces, hahah.

It is nice to have something rearranged.

The pieces sound amazing! It will be like a party when they arrive. You can sing, "Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday dear Fiesta friends, and me..."

San Diego has really nice weather usually, but they have gotten the heat lately. They used to brag about their perfect 70 degree weather year round. It has changed. But we really are in a drought.

Will Poppy be for sale next week? Macy's gave me July 7th. But maybe that is the delivery date?

Re: Just Bought My First Piece of Fiestaware

Shoekitty--I honestly don't know if Poppy will be on sale next week or not. I had thought that I had read somewhere that Poppy would be available for purchase in June or maybe mid-June. My Dad lives (as I tell laughingly tell him) in the "Metraplex". The Metraplex is the East Coast from Philadelphia to Northern VA. Basically, if you can't find it in the Metraplex especially near DC then it isn't made or for sale. There is nothing here where I live so I was hoping that the some of the stores near my Dad would be getting shipments Poppy and have them on the floor for purchase. Hope Springs eternal.

Westbrook1--Welcome to the Fiesta thread.

OMG!! The weather is getting hotter and more humid. It's horrid to be in, especially in this computer room where I'm using the apartments' computers. At least they got those fixed.
