Growing up in a very Italian family, most folks were disappointed at my birthday cake: nowhere would there be a rum cake, lol !

I am very picky where my calories will come from.  I have even insulted people by refusing the dessert. My DS made the best red velvet cake with a marshmallow icing. I don't like anyone else's.  Black Forest cake to me and mind you This is my opinion is gross.

a really good cake can be expensive these days, so the really cheap ones are often tasteless and the icing yucky.  

So if I'm going to buy a cake, I expect to pay to get a good one.  I don't like angel cakes, I prefer dense ones like pound cakes, and I love good icing.

I rarely eat cake.  But, I do have favorites, and don't really dislike any well made cake. Except maybe a plain white cake with white frosting. I prefer rich, decadent flavors if I'm going to indulge.

Fruitcake, German Chocolate cake.

I love Red Velvet Cake. especially the frosting.  I sometimes just pick up a big slice at Publix.

Although I'm a chocoholic, I don't care for German chocolate cake. That's probably because I don't like food with coconut on it. But the funny thing is I love any products that are coconut scented.
