Re: I absolutely hate cooking/baking....

I never considered myself a good cook. I'd just cook to eat. But now that we're almost retired and its just the two of us now I've become quite the cook! Its never too late. I never could get the hang of soup. Now its all I make! The problem I have is I always try to make a dish healthy. I'm always tweaking the recipe to make it healthier to eat. Most of the time I do a great job but sometimes that recipes was just meant to be fattening. Keep trying, you'll find something you're great at!

I have the Better Homes cookbook for 54 yrs. If I have any questions I always look in that book. I would like to get the new one but I cook more like the old one. Best cookbook I have ever had.

Re: I absolutely hate cooking/baking....

I am a pretty decent cook but hate every minute of it. You spend time shopping and loading and unloading and putting up the food. Then you have to defrost the food and then prepare it and then clean up and the eating process is about 10 minutes. It just seems like a disappointment all that work for so little time to enjoy.

I used to love to cook but I recently downsized to a house with an electric range and now I really hate it. It's just not as good as a gas range.

That's good advice Brii, I'll work on that, one thing at a time. Yes I have people to feed chickenbutt but around here my husband does most of the cooking cause he has better hours for it. Me, not so much. I do try though but mostly I think I stink at it. He's a good cook but he doesn't do many desserts. I'm just glad I wasn't taking that cake to an event or something. {#emotions_dlg.w00t} I di order a cook book from the other night from that ITKWD show, it's from America's Test Kitchen, I hope it helps me. I'm lost if it doesn't.{#emotions_dlg.crying}

Don't feel guilty, a lot of people don't cook nowadays. My daughter is one of the few young women she knows who cooks. Most eat out, including lunch.

I was really appalled to find out how many people DO NOT take their lunch to work. It has to cost a fortune to eat out every day.

It's OK, you don't have to cook or like it just because you're female Smile

You can truly eat out cheaper than you can cook really nutritious food now days. It is quicker and easier and cheaper. Not saying "better" necessarily but cheaper and quicker.

Actually if I stop and think about it, cooking is pretty archaic to have to do today. With modern conveniences, freezers, etc. why should people have to do that? It would be like taking clothing and using a rub board! LOL!! Rather than all that stuff piles in the grocery store in cans, companies should be able to produce excellent frozen foods that we microwave and that should be that. Think about a store filled with mostly excellent quality frozen dishes in single and family sizes. . . packed in recyclable containers and ready in 15 minutes with no washing, chopping, etc.

The older I get the less I enjoy cooking. I find myself eating at McDondals 4 or 5 times a week now. I know it's not healthy but I just have no desire to cook.

This is so true. Just the cheese for a pizza cost more than buying a pizza.

I still love to cook and bake, I also treat myself to junk. Just depends on my mood at the time.

I can't say that I hate it, but it's not one of my favorite things to do.
