there I said it. That's all, just venting.
Nothing I ever make turns out. Into the trash it. goes.

I absolutely LOVE cooking.
Baking, not so much.

I love baking.
I like cooking, but I like baking better.
I'm making 2 dozen Valentine's cupcakes. LOL

I made a lemon cake yesterday, took one bite, looked at my husband and we both had a weird look on our face like....yuck. I give up.

What was wrong with it?

It was dry. Here it the recipe I used.
one box lemon cake mix (Duncan Heinz)
4 eggs
1 c cold water
1 package dream whip
That's all it called for, then bake it at 350 for 30 minutes.
Then I mixed instant lemon pudding made with 2 cups milk with a container of cool whip. It was awful. That was the frosting.

If it was dry you may have left it in the oven too long. Did you use dark non-stick pans?

Usually cakes call for oil. Dream whip in the cake mix?
Over beating can cause cakes to be dry too.
Try another cake mix and don't add anything to it. Just follow the box directions.
I bet you'll have better results!

Thanks Brii I think the package of dream whip was replacing the oil but beats me, I'm not a cook. And fariemoon, I used a 9x13 pan I bought right here from qvc that came in a set of 3 it was a Lydia Bastianich (sp). Also the frosting stuff wasn't right for the cake, it was goopy and cold and the cake was too tall like a good 3 inches in height and then it just wasn't a good match. yuck.

My sister is the same way. Nothing ever turns out for her. I told her to try one thing and master it and then move on. LOL
