That's absurd. Why do I have all these pastas? I don't make THAT many things with pasta! So I'm throwing out the shells, butterflys, and a couple of other things. And I'm making a point of using a couple of others this week.
What do I really need to keep on hand? I'm trying to figure that out! Any advice? LOL!!! I am going to whip my pantry into shape! It's hard to figure out what to keep in stock and how many of each! I am the queen of canned tomatoes . Any kind of canned tomato you want, I have! But I use them often.
I have all but two on the list plus a few different ones. I never know which kind I'll need so I like to keep a variety. I do have to throw some out occasionally, if I've had them too long. I'm trying not to buy anymore until I use up what I have.
I have all kinds of canned tomatoes too. Wouldn't be without them. ![]()

I have most of that long list and a pasta maker that I use now and then. It's good to be prepared! Sometimes pasta shapes are flexible in recipes but other times that special shape seems very important! ![]()

@Sooner Well, I guess I must have the smallest pantry on the planet. Your stash and those of others on this thread are impressive and too much for my space. I only stock whole wheat linguine and penne. We have a some nearby markets, so no need to hoard. Also, and I'm sure this is heresy, when a recipe calls for a smaller sized pasta than I have, or I need to thicken a soup,I get out the rolling pin and smash. Uh, oh!

There was a time when my list would've looked like yours, but I carelessly chose a life partner who doesn't like pasta. Whenever he goes out of town, it's the first treat I cook up for myself.
I lived in NY for most of my life. The sizes and shapes of pasta available there are mind-boggling. When I moved west I quickly learned that they are not pasta savvy here. The options are very limited, even in the largest grocery stores.
Right now I have a box of rigatoni, two boxes of spaghetti and a box of elbows. I will have a bag of wide egg noodles next time I go shopping - I used the last of the bag in my chicken soup this past weekend.

Spaghetti
PenneRigate
Cannolicchi
Cestini
Ditalini
Calamaretti
Cannelloni Tubes
Egg Pappardelle
Egg Tagliatelle
Egg Fettuccine
Most are my favourite brand Rustichella d’Abruzzo. I use the spaghetti and pappardelle most often. I am trying to use up the special shapes before buying more pasta so, right now, no lasagne sheets, large shells and pennine (which I use most often in soups).
Different shapes & sizes for different sauces but, I need to but less variety at one time!

Amish noodles, supermarket noodles, elbow macaroni and thin spaghetti. That's it. When we built this house I wanted two pantry cupboards, ended up with one. And that one is overflowing.
