I love vegetable soup, and never use a written recipe.  My soup is always a little different, but always good!

One of dads brothers and his wife had a large family, and my aunt made soup in her canner.  Garden vegetables were canned in gallon jars at their house, so the canner was the only pot large enough to make enough soup to feed them.

My uncle always liked the soup, but his consistent comment was that it tasted a little different than last time.   And it did, because whatever appropriate leftovers were in the refrigerator, went into the soup pot.  And I make soup for my family the same way.

I love cauliflower soup.  We usued to go to a little cafe downtown for lunch when working.  It was called The Red Apple.  They made the best cauliflower soup.  I've learned to make it and love it.

Last week I made some squash soup from the banana squash in my garden.  Doesn't sound that interesting, but it sure was yummy.  I also make tomato basil soup from my garden.

I only eat homemade soup.  I use no written recipes.

My favorites are

Italian Wedding

Chicken Corn

French Onion

Potato

Chili...is that a soup?

My husband loves

ham, sausage and bean

Chicken totrtillini

in addition to the ones I listed.

I usually make two super large pots of soup every weekend in the winter and freeze some for later.

@QVCkitty1 There is a copycat Panera chicken and wild rice soup recipe that is easy to find online. It has milk in a small amount vs cream so the calories / fat are lower and it's not too thick. It's delicious and relatively easy to make.

The all-time favorite around here is Chicken Tortilla Soup, served with fried tortilla strips and grated Monterrey Jack.

My kids grew up on it, and now they make it in their homes.

I love soup and I love making soup.  Yesterday I made pumpkin soup.

Today, I made homemade black bean soup--no recipe.  I diced about 1/2 of an onion, sauted it in my IP, added two cloves of garlic, put about 1/3 cup of dried black beans in, added a cup of water and maybe a cup of chicken stock, a small can of hatch chilis and a small can of diced tomatoes, chili powder, and salt, and pressure cooked for 30 minutes.  Kept it on warm for 5 hours so the flavors could build.  It was delicious.

The next time that I hear salt and ice together, it better be in a margarita!
