Do you have a garbage bowl in your kitchen when you are cooking?  I just put my scraps into a big ziploc and then put in the trash or sit it in the sink until its mostly full with it zipped closed.   Sometimes too, I will stick that into the freezer and add to it to mostly full.

Things go in the trash as they are disposed of, I am not imagine the smell of the vegetable and meat trash after it has sat for a week

I have a garbage bowl that is emptied and washed after every use.  It is very helpful when I am doing a lot of chopping.

The next time that I hear salt and ice together, it better be in a margarita!

I do the same.  It was something I picked up from Rachel Ray.

@CherryHugs  I do the same with zip lock bags.  I have a round plastic container (I forget what came in it) and I put a zip lock bag in it and fold the top of the zip lock over the edge of the container.  It stays open to dispose of things.

It's not large and it fills quickly.  I zip it up, no oder and into hte trash.   I wash the plastic container and insert another zip lock.

I use zip locks to empty the litter box too.

I never understood spending almost $20 on a garbage bowl.  You can get a plastic bowl at Walmart for a couple of bucks.

I never heard of a "garbage bowl" either until I watched Rachel Ray!

I either toss stuff down the garbage disposal or use a piece of plastic wrap, foil, or a plastic bag to wrap the stuff in...that is immediately taken out to the apartment trash dumpster.  I don't leave anything potentially "smelly" in the kitchen trash can overnight.

I have what I call a "composting" bowl. It contains egg shells, coffee or tea grounds, vegetable peelings, and the like. No meat or actual eggs. I keep it in the fridge and twice a week, I'll take the full bowl up to our Mantis composter and dump it into the compost. Add grass clippings and leaves in the fall. It usually takes about three weeks to have a good bit of nice compost for the vegetable garden. Between our compost and our recycling, our trash is almost non-existent.

Now, if somebody could come up with a good way to re-use used cat litter, I'd do really well!

I just put veggie scraps down the garbage disposal and anything else directly into my kitchen trash can.   I take the kitchen trash out each evening to the large trash can.
