Re: Filter Pitcher VS Faucet Filter

@Nightowlz, I didn't know they made reverse osmosis for under the sink.  Where do you get it?  I have an instant hot water heater under the sink and don't know that I would want to give that up for the RO though.  Otherwise I would need another hole in the sink.  The water heater uses the hole that was supposed to be for a soap dispenser.   I can't use anything that screws onto the sink spout because due to the  design there is nothing to screw onto.

Really, I'd rather have a whole house system because I would love to remove the hard water and chlorine from my shower water.

I keep my zero water on the counter since I just don't have room for it in the fridge.  So far I have not had a mold problem.  I don't use it for drinking water for me, but for the kitty fountain so I don't get that nasty hard water buildup that you can't get off.

However, you have to remember that once you have removed everything from the water, there's nothing to fight the growth of bacteria.  So, keeping it in the fridge may slow down that process, but if bacteria can grow in the fridge, it can also grow in your pitcher in the fridge.

@Icegoddess

I have 2 gallon jugs full of water plus an almost 2 gallon jug with spigot on it in the refrigerator since all I drink is water. It has to be cold. I fill the jug with spigot with the 2 gallon jugs & keep those refilled. I wash the jugs every once in a while the best I can. I have never noticed any mold. I drink the water too fast. Have been drinking 80 oz per day but will be drinking more since it's warming up.

It looks similar to this. The 3 filter system hangs on the wall on the side of the cabinet same side disposal is on. The tank sits on the floor of the cabinet on the right side. The spigot is on the sink above the tank below.

My dad always used a Sunbeam Hot Shot for hot water fast.

@Nightowlz, I remember those Hot Shots, but the last thing I need is another kitchen gadget sitting out on my very limited counterspace.

I have the Aquasana filter.pitcher which I purchased from QVC A number of years ago.  I keep the pitcher on the counter, not the fridge, and have never had any mold issues.

Re: Filter Pitcher VS Faucet Filter

Az has hard water got water softener, now we got another filtration on top of that, seems too many minerals coming in you can get kidney stones, and all kinds of stuff with our bad water. then fridge has filter which we just replaced around $40 a year to filter that too. All faucets without this need to be replace with hard water we have no choice to clean water coming into our house. Oh hoses watering outside plants so happy they are still living.

Brita pitcher for years, always kept in the fridge (we LOVE icy cold water) and no issues. I pour the water from the pitcher into my ice cube trays as well so there are no "floaters" as the ice melts. Bleh.

Re: Filter Pitcher VS Faucet Filter

I have a filtered water tap on my refrigerator for drinking. I have a Brita pitcher that I keep in the refrigerator at all times to fill my Keurig coffee pot with. I also clean the Keurig tank regularly .

I have a question that I hope someone can answer. Since I got the Brita pitcher I have not been able to get the lid on it!

Without the filter in it, the lid goes on fine. But once the filter is in, the lid wont actually go on. I have it in the fridge with the lid balancing on and have to be careful it doesnt fall off onto the floor.

This pitcher is different from any I have had with the filter indicator on the top and more plastic sticking down under the lid.   ( Its just how it is made)  Not just a plain flat lid like I have had before.

Can anyone suggest any help? Man Happy

Re: Filter Pitcher VS Faucet Filter

I also have the Zero Water container sitting on my counter. I have had it since Dec. 2017. And there has been no mold since I started using it. I wash it on occasion just because I think that is a good idea. But the water is always crystal clear.

The container does not fit in either of my refrigerators, so that is why it sits on the counter.

I would not buy a faucet filter. Because after watching and talking to people that have them. I know even though the contraption is sitting right on the faucet, no one would use it.

We had a faucet filter and it was too heavy, it pulled the faucet down and broke the seal at the base.  We had to replace it.  Went back to the pitcher.
