Re: Ever Make Leftovers On Purpose???

One person here.....ALWAYS!!!!

Il ove to cook, but can't eat all the quantities I make. So I eat some, have some the next day, freeze some.

I am REALLY grateful on a day, say, when I have to mow my acre lawn, or run errands all morning, or tire myself out on other stuff  like trimming shrubbish or snowblowing the long driveway or shovelling snow *....and there's something to eat all ready in the fridge or freezer that I don't have to start over with!!!

I think more people are aware of wasting food today, and the cost makes it shameful to throw out food.

I feed a few stray cats so NOTHInG gets wasted here!!! They eat anything I save for them.

* I CAN hire people to do this labor, but..I do it to remain active and to get exercise. In winter when I shop once a week or sometimes once every two weeks, I usually break up my driveway into thirds when it snows,  and shovel that amount for three days, as long as it's 4" of less. More I get out the snowblower. I want to stay active as long as possible... and I get really good exercise doing this type of work. Those days I REALLY like to find something already made or finishing up in the oven, perfuming the whole house with delicious scent!!!

I like to make big batches of roast chicken dark meat parts in my 6.75 qt. Le Creuset Dutch  round oven...start on top of the stove, finish in the oven, eat, divide, and freeze.

Also Pot Roast, pork shoulder in sauer kraut, turkey thighs...all the things that taste so good slow cooked with ingredients I"m in control of, that you really can't just make one serving of!!!

I find I'm eating less as I grow older, and I eat my large meal at noon. (65).
