Just checked Walmart's website. A dozen large eggs $8, a dozen extra large $9.50, and a dozen Eggland's Best $8.25.

Answering the question of what has similar nutrition for less $, the first thing that came to mind was tofu. Plus, it's cholesterol free.

It can't replace eggs but that wasn't the question.

IGA had medium eggs for $8.49 dozen and large eggs for $9.79 dozen today; easy pass for me.

I had an "egg adventure" yesterday----I order groceries from AMZ Fresh--have for years. Actually find their prices pretty decent, including for eggs--BUT...... yesterday I got my order that included 1 doz LARGE eggs--paid over $6 for them --what I got, was a carton that had 2 eggs missing and 1 that was cracked and broken and then half of the ones left, were the size of golf balls!!! Looked like that was the carton that the shoppers prob used to switch out for other eggs--long story short--I got my $$ back and just had to chuckle!!

I always check the cartoons since the shells are so thin now, I can never trust that they are undamaged. I read an article that said prices have fallen. LOL where?

I had to run to my local health food store for vitamins and happened to check their egg prices….$6.50 for a dozen. They said it’s because they are supplied by local farms. Hadn’t even thought of that since their prices are generally higher than the grocery store.

@LisaMofSLC --yes-- I always check the eggs too--but like I said, I order my groceries online and have to say--more often than not, I do get broken eggs as the "shoppers" rush--they shop for many people at once-- and am sure, do not check. But I always get my $$ back--this time I did complain to an actual person about this incident---and got an extra $5 credit or even a special trip with a new carton of eggs delivered to me if I wanted. AMZ Fresh is really a pretty decent way to shop

Yesterday I bought the 18-count, large for ust under $14.  Still has a limit of two and not many available.

The market did have a special of $7/doz, but was sold out.

DH loves eggs - Scrambled, fried, omelettes, boiled, etc...

So, I always buy the 18-count carton - Last week, I paid $8.49

A couple of months ago, they would have been around $4.00
