do you eat "ala carte?"
I don't fix a meat, starch, raw veggie & cooked veggie any longer. Did for years!
Now, I seem to eat items separately!

I cook a full meal for my husband every night. I usually just eat the protein, a veggie and a green salad.
I make a gigantic bowl of green salad about twice a week with three or four kinds of greens, cabbage, cucumbers, carrots, tomatoes, celery and radishes.
I just make myself some chicken, fish or streak, etc. and a veggie and my husband eats the same except I make him a starch...rice, pasta or potatoes.
I also make homemade bread two or three times a week or some cornbread for him to have with his meal.
He eats dessert almost every night, so I bake once or twice a week....cake or pie usually, but sometimes cookies or brownies. He sometimes eats ice cream instead.
I do a lot of cooking and baking. We don't eat out except for a few times a year, usually while on vacation or with friends.
When hubby goes away for a week or two in December, I mostly just eat a salad with a protein served on top. This past year I made beef stew while he was away and ate it for six days in a row.
I don't make a full meal if it is just me eating.

My cooking habits are the same as @Carmie 's. Make a full meal every night for the husband, and bake bread and desserts for him several times a week, but I'm mostly a nibbler. Bit of soup and vegetables now and then.

For us, a meal is a serving of protein and a green vegetable, sometimes half an avocado on the side. We never eat starchy vegetables, rice, or pasta. Sometimes we'll have a large salad with protein added. Sometimes it's bacon & eggs with a green vegetable and maybe some berries. We have our main meal at noon. I usually eat once a day and may have a little something afterwards, like a few nuts or a zero sugar yogurt.
I do most of our cooking but we do eat out at times. When we do, we can maintain our way of eating.

Our meals are much like Carmie's, protein and veggies but with a starch for DH.

I rarely make a traditional meal of meat, potatoes and veggie. Most of our meals are pizza, tacos, steak and baked, burgers, spaghetti etc. The only time I make a traditional meal is Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I graze. I can't manage to consume a whole "Sunday dinner".
However, my relatives have banquet-type dinners every day of the week.
It must have something to do with your DNA or genes, or appetite.
Never figured out how people can eat "three-squares" a day...

My husband is the cook in the family. I’m the baker. For 4 nights a week he cooks a meat, vegetables and starch for dinner. Mondays are meatless. A big vegetable, fruit and nuts salad. We go out to eat one night and on Ffidays it is either fish, seafood or pizza. We like cooking and baking from scratch. We eat as little processed food as possible and grow a lot of our own vegetables and herbs.

We have one full meal each day after we feed the dogs at 4 pm. Breakfast is a brief skinny bagel, oatmeal or breakfast roll. I cook a protein and one vegetable or a salad. We also can have a dinner salad a couple times a week too. We have a sandwich meal no more than once a week. Dessert is three small cookies or macarons each evening. I also like a weekend piece of pizza with a salad too. I really try to have some variety and try different things so that we enjoy our food. We sit down and enjoy each others' company and take our time.

Now that it is just me I make simple meals and but every so often I will do a full meal just for me and make a tv dinner from the rest and freeze for another time or sometimes have them the next day. Depends. Sometimes I will cook for my daughter and her family and do the works.
Just nice to cook it up at times and then other times not so much and I like the simplicity of it.
