Re: Eggs yesterday

[ Edited ]

I used to keep at least 4 dozen eggs on hand since my husband loved eggs for breakfast, wanted deviled eggs often, and asked for pound cake at least monthly.  I get hungry for french toast about once a month, so one carton of eggs monthly will take care of my craving with enough eggs to make deviled eggs for a meal when trucker daughters boyfriend is here.

Our local Hardee's has not had real eggs available for a few weeks, only their folded eggs on biscuits and platters.

Aldi has been out of pasture raised eggs for a few weeks now.  Since we were at Costco today I got the next best thing, Kirkland Organic Brown Eggs. A package of 2 dozen was $8.59, limit 3.

I paid $6.19 for a dozen of extra large eggs this morning at Fry's. I'm okay with that.

I went to Aldi's Wednesday and eggs were 4.99.  Yesterday at Trader Joe's I purchased free range white eggs for $3.49.  Thought it was a bargain.  Not sure why, the white ones were I believe 50 cents less than brown.

It's called supply and demand. Where prices are higher, most likely the retailer is paying more for them as well.

Went to Aldi's on Friday.  Eggs were $4.33 for a dozen large.  On our news yeserday (So. Ca.), they said eggs went down 87 cents last week.  Let's hope it continues.

I bought two dozen eggs yesterday and got one dozen from my neighbor's father.

Egglands Best were $5.69 a dozen.  If you think about it, that was a little less than 50 cents each.

Yes, the price of eggs are higher than usual, but if you think about it....what else can you buy for that price with all that nutrition?  Nothing I can think of.
