@AuntMame- I just checked our Ralphs store in So. Cal. (owned by Kroger) and 12 ct. large eggs, store brand is $8.99.  Ridiculous prices.  When will we get some relief?

In Show Low the egg freezer at Safeway was completely empty today except for two cartons of Egg Beaters and a carton of egg whites! It looked like it was the Pandemic all over again.

Not sure if this is correct but I heard Only free range organic eggs are allowed to be sold in CA. If that's correct there will be no price relief since these are the most expensive type of eggs.

@ladychas

All our eggs now in Colorado need to be free range and they're about $4/doz.

Can be lower when they're on sale.

Eggs are over $9 a dozen here at a local Colorado Springs Walmart.

Where do you buy your eggs for $4 a dozen?

I buy egglands best 18 count. Usually under $6.  No store had them.  Store brand 8.99 a doz and 10.04 for an 18 pack.  Still ok for protein, but I went to another store yesterday, they at least had egglands best 12 / a dozen for 4.49.  No wonder they are sold out.  Egglands best 4.49 vs store brand 8.99.  I'm going to have to check BJs next time I go.   I get the bird flu issue, but nearly triple from 2.99 a few months ago.  Crazy.

We eat a lot of eggs and also bake.  We have started buying them in 6 dozen cartons and in less than 2 yrs they've gone from 12.99 to 23.00. If they get much more expensive we'll partially substitute baking with powered eggs. We already have powered eggs and powdered milk set aside for emergencies.
