DH does not understand why bread companies do not make hotdog rolls to accommodate toppings. He complains that he can barely add any relish or onions because there is no room. For the life of me, I cannot find any deeper (not longer) hotdog rolls. I found a brand of gourmet seeded hotdog rolls online, but apparently they don’t make them anymore. Any suggestions?

I buy these top sliced buns.  They work well for us.

@Natureluvr - Look for New England Split Top Buns.  Sometimes they're called Lobster Roll Buns.  I believe they may be a bit taller than a traditional bun.  The hotdog can sit deeper into the bun, thus allowing more space on top for the condiments.

Oh, BTW, you can grill the outsides of the New England buns, too.  That's what I used to do.

Ehhhh. Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. My current pack, supposedly fresh, but all break in half so the dog falls out the back. Holding it all together has been messy, but otherwise I do like these rolls.

One other thing I've done is buy flour tortillas.  Then fold up the hot dog/condiments like a burrito.   It works really well to make chili dogs.   Less messy

Like @CoffeeNut I also use flour tortillas for hot dogs (and a lot of other things).

@CoffeeNut  Great minds and all that. I've used sun dried tomato wraps for chili dogs (and many kinds of sandwiches) and they're yummy.

What about a Hoagie Roll?

It also says to use a potato roll?

It says online to steam your hot dog buns first to make them plumper. Steaming will make them softer with a pillowy texture.

My mom had a bun steamer when I was a kid.

You can steam a bun wrapped in a wet paper towel in the microwave a few seconds.

I don't eat hot dogs so I'm not much help.

DH makes all our bread, rolls etc.
