Mom used to make lemon or lime jello mold with shredded cabbage & carrots instead of fruit! We actually liked it & it got some veggies in us!

For our dessert on Thanksgiving my mother always made jello with bananas or fruit cocktail in it.  I never had pumpkin pie until I met my husband.

No I don't. I never have ate any of these jello salads that are solid like that. I just don't care for jello.

I do like Watergate Salad that uses some jello but completely different.

@AuntG  YEAH!  We used to make it in a sort of deep martini glass and tip the bottoms through the rungs of the refrigerator shelf so the jello would form it's layers at a tilt. then fill the space at the top with fruit and whipped cream.  It looked So COOL!

OH yes---makes me gag just thinking about it--my mom did lime or lemon or orange with that nasty canned cocktail fruit in it---not a fan of jello my whole life because of that -----

Growing up our mom would put Jello in a small container in our lunchboxes, well, back in those days we just put our lunchboxes in our classroom until lunch time, needless to say, the Jello melted, so we just drank it, we never said anything to our mom about it, it was no big deal in those days.
