I'm sorry to hear that lime jello has such a bad reputation. I'm 73 and just rediscovered it last year - plain and with a squirt of Reddi-Whip or spoonful of Cool Whip. I've forgotten all those crazy jello recipes my aunties used to make, and now just enjoy plain ole lime jello as a cool and refreshing bite to eat.

@jannabelle1Lime jello was always one of my childrens' favorites and mine too. They also liked any red jello. One thing that I did with lime jello, was to drain the juice from a can of pinapple rings. Keeping the rings in the can, pour in the lime jello

made with a little less water than box directions. After it gels, remove bottom of can and push out onto dish. Slice between

pineapple rings and serve with whipped cream. The kids liked it.

It can be made with any flavor jello, but we liked lime the best.

My mother thought FAT and SUGAR were the most important ingredients in a meal.......because they were at the TOP of the "Food Pymamid".......

I have NEVER cooked in our family "tradition".

Totally remember having Jello with fruit cocktail.   We had Jello fairly often because it was quick and easy to make.  My mother had the Tupperware mold too and I have one stored away.  Mine is the green one.  I still have Jello occasionally and enjoy it as a change in routine.

If my dog doesn't like you, neither do I.

Growing up my dad had to have some sort of dessert and something simple was fine.  My mom made the jello w/ fruit cocktail for him many times.  One day at school, we had jello whipped w/ Cool Whip and I loved it so mom bought the ingredients and I made it several times.  That was about the extent of my jello eating.

I remember going to church dinners, funeral dinners, and other assorted carry-ins and there were always jello desserts/salads that about made me gag to look at them.....lime jello w/ shredded cabbage, various flavors w/ shredded carrots & others.

Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit, but Wisdom is knowing not to put it in a fruit salad.

@Desertdi My mother thought fat and sugar and carbs were the root of all evil.  EXCEPT when she got a shot at pie, cake or fudge!  Then all bets were off!  Woman Very Happy

She and her sisters could eat more sweets (and sweeter gooey sweets) that I could imagine. They made some kind of coconut cake that would scare Paula Deen.

I can remember going to my grandmothers house for dinner. My dads mother. The first thing she served was a square price of tomato Jello on a bed on lettuce. well no one ate it. My mom said after we left.did she honestly think her son would eat tomato Jello. He was so not the type for that.  And when I was older I had gone bc shopping for my aunt and I saw coffee flavored Jello so I bought it for her thinking she loved coffee so she should allso love coffee Jello. not. She hated it. Last summer

We made Jello with frozen fruit alot like all summer. This summer I suggested it to my wife and she bc said no.I'm not feeling Jello this year.

My mom made jello and fruit coctail once a week. I´m the only one who never ate it. I´ve never had jello and I still don´t know why. I´ve never tasted it. Just something about it I didn´t like.

Last week I found out my 3 year old great nephew loves, loves jello. Didn´t know children still liked jello.

I'm 70.  My mom only made Jello salads for special occasions.  She had that Tupperware mold and would make a lime salad with pineapple, Eagle Brand Milk, a dab of mayo and cottage cheese.  We all liked it.  Our favorite Jello salad was with strawberry jello, Cool Whip, and a package of frozen strawberries.  My Grandpa called that salad "Calf Slobbers"!

It wasn't on the market long, but Jello 1-2-3 was a favorite of mine. The boxed Jello would separate into three layers.
