ITKWD is huge. Jane Tracey called it the "flagship" program recently.

Last Sunday for Cooking Day, he said 2300 new customers joined QVC in the 5 hour show.

That's why they do these marathon shows. And, unfortunately, he has to sell every product or at least introduce it or make a comment on it otherwise people don't buy as many. I noticed when MaryBeth came on to spell him for his bio break, he had to introduce the Lock n Lock product and then he came in at the end to close the sale.

I can see if it's a new product, but LnL is old news. MaryBeth could have sold that by herself with no problem.

I think they were afraid if people were doing a drive by and saw Mary Beth, they would keep channel surfing. He must be the draw.

When ITKWD gets to 6 hours, 24 hours won't be far off. If Jerry Lewis can do it, so can David ;o)

Kitchen items must be hard to sell week after week. A person only needs one VitaMix, one Food Saver, one KichenAid mixer, etc etc. It has to be difficult to raise excitement and continue to be enthusiastic about trying to sell out the same old products. At least if a host is selling clothes, handbags, shoes, etc. there is always something new and fresh. I think QVC needs something new and different in the kitchen. I like David and I think he has great enthusiasm. I hope all is well for him.

I don't understand how anyone could say this host is genuine. The op's description of him as using ""set phrases"" couldn't describe him better.

I have been a customer for over 22 years. I think some have been very cruel on these sights over the years to many hosts, etc. We all have jobs that not every minute is perfect!!!!!!!!!!! I watch a lot of the Q!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We can make comments, but need to be careful. Sometimes, a person is sick, or has a problem in their life. Lets try to be kind to others.

He even interrupts the guests to fill us in on how many are sold and how many are on the phone lines. I don't really care how many are on the phone lines. QVC seldom has a sellout.

ITA, it is like watching Jerry Lewis and his telethon for Muscular Dystrophy!

On 4/7/2014 Reever said: These hosts, especially the more senior ones, do get a fair amount of vacation time. I'm not positive, but I think they get around 5 weeks off a year. That's a lot more than most people get and many of us can't even afford a real vacation. David was just in the tropics not too long ago he was posting photos sitting poolside. I'm sure they get burnout but so do most employees who have been at a job 10 plus years.

This post is so right on. All the hosts talk about their vacations in Europe or the Caribbean. How many of us could even begin to afford to go and spend a couple weeks at those places. I don't dispute that their jobs are difficult and they need time to unwind. But I do not feel sorry for them. They are fortunate to have jobs that afford them a very lucrative salary and the time to enjoy it.

As Reever said, everyone who has been on a job for years also feels the same. However most of us get only two weeks of vacation and cannot afford the luxury of spending that time lounging on the beach in Belize.

I'm not saying they don't deserve it, let's just put things in perspective.

David has done one too many kitchen shows. He's not a chef. The recipes he shows every week are from the Q kitchen, not his, would be my guess. He's not a kitchen expert, so why do people even care what he says about a product? He really just doesn't seem as he enjoys what he's doing any longer. He's as bored as we are with the show.

I don't understand why the board monitors don't kill this thread. Along with the one about Amy. DO YOUR JOB!

Why do you think this should be killed?

Actually, I think this discussion has been predominantly respectful and concerned about the hosts; it's mostly bashing the boring repetition of products, lengthy segments with the "same old" hosts, and pushy tactics.

I don't see anything wrong with viewers expressing their opinions that simply bringing out a stale item with a new "exclusive" color isn't raising their bottom line.

Maybe it's me, because I'm older than dirt & purchased from QVC 25 yrs. ago. Anyone else remember when simple "butter boats" were offered on QVC? I belong to several other cooking forums where people are actively looking for that item.

Oh, wait...unless it's a big ticket Vitamix or KA Mixer offered in "Taxicab Yellow or Elizabeth Taylor Violet Eyes", QVC can't bother with it.

Sorry, I'm in a mood tonight.

I agree with denisemb in that I think it has been pretty much honest and respectful and so on.

There is nothing wrong with people expressing their opinion. It's when everyone attacks each other that it's wrong.

But that's just my opinion. I have only been here on the boards since 2005. I know some of you have been here a lot longer.
