I hope this thread goes on year after year!

Cut onions near running water so they don't burn your eyes. The fumes run to the water and not your eyes.

Freeze vegetable stock in an ice tray and put the cubes in baggies. This is useful when you use stock by the spoonful instead of a few cups at a time.

When my DD was in elementary school, she loved soup and I looked everywhere for a thermos-the type we who are over the age of fifty remember! I remember a jar type that was made by Thermos: it was perfect for a single serving. You used to be able to find Thermos products everywhere....are they now only sold with camping gear? Are they being sold at all? I was thinking it might be easier to clean than a carafe... Poodlepet

I found a small old fashion-type thermos to put soup in my kid's lunchbox at Whole Foods.

When chopping veggies for dishes, save the trimmings in a plastic baggie and freeze them. When you have several bags, use them to make stock.
