Any favorite cookie suggestions? My church is having one in December that I am contemplating participating in (it will be my first). I have a couple of things in mind but I am open to suggestions. Thanks!

Re: Cookie exchange question

Shortbread are easy to make and they can be decorated with colored sugar or sugared pre-bought decorations. They are always a hit. Another suggestion might be to make chocolate crinkle cookies.

Re: Cookie exchange question

I would suggest making something that hold well, and freezes well. Don't know what day of the month the event will be, but if you choose something that freezes well, you can bake ahead, or the people who receive can freeze if they need to to hold them till the holidays.

If trying a new cookie, I'd do a practice batch rather soon, so you can see how they taste, how long they hold and how well they freeze.

Re: Cookie exchange question

I do work at an annual bazaar for our animal shelter at the baked goods table. I bake a ton of different thing...it is coming up on November 15 th. What goes over very very well is Italian knot cookies! Very easy to make...you can color the icing and the sprinkles and you can use a flavor of your liking or split the batch and color based on flavor....such as pastels with orange or lemon oil or extract or almond or the traditional anise with plain white and colored non-pareils. There is a great recipe for them on all recipes dot com...I like the recipe called italian Easter cookies. I also make chocolate cheese cake brownies and they are a huge best seller and the 7 layer cookie bars are always popular too. Good luck!

Meant to say chocolate chip cheese cake brownies... It is basically your favorite chocolate chip cookie dough layered with a cream cheese filling.

Anything homemade. Please none of those typical tube cookies from the store. People don't sign up for these things to get what they can pull from the grocery store.

I love a cranberry shortbread. You can do a short bread recipe and do different stir-ins like pecans, cranberries, blueberries, lemon zest, anything really!
