Re: Cod or Black Cod (aka Sablefish)

I've never had Black Cod but I had regular cod, baked with breadcrumbs EVERY SINGLE FRIDAY growing up.

Can't say as it is very flavorful by itself.  It does get chewy if you overcook it.

Trust me on that.Woman Tongue

Re: Cod or Black Cod (aka Sablefish)

Growing up, the only fried food my parents ever made was fried cod fish balls (the cod was in wooden boxes) served with Boston baked beans and the brown bread that came in a can. I really disliked that meal!

I must admit I'm not that familiar w/cod.  I do like salmon and steel head trout.

@Elsie299 that sounds like a Catholic no meat Friday night dinner from when I was a kid. 🤣

Re: Cod or Black Cod (aka Sablefish)

Thanks for the input.  I found a small package of Alaskan Wild Caught Cod.  I made blackened cod and it wasn't bad.  The fish was very mild and the seasoning is what gave the flavor.  I doubt I'll ever actually crave it but I'll make it again occasionally.

Luckily, we only had this meal a few times a year!
