If you have, or ever had, one of these in your kitchen do you use it mainly for its decorative or extra storage aspect?
I have one--Home Styles brand Orleans Caramel Bakers Rack--that I'm trying to increase its functional style yet retain its decorative appearance. It has three wider lower shelves and two upper shelves that are narrower.
As you walk in my front door you especially notice the top two narrow and wider middle shelf. It sits in front of a normal width window that faces the back yard.
Could I use decorative baskets or containers of some sort on the two lowest shelves to group baking pans together, baking gadgets in another . . . so I'm looking for suggestions to keep it pretty but make it more useful.

@aroc3435 - Your Baker's rack sounds beautiful! I think your idea of using the bottom two racks for decorative containers to hold cooking essentials is perfect. I have a wrought iron and glass one right off the kitchen. I used to use the first shelf for seasonal touches and the bottom two for cookbooks. Now it holds DH's sound system! I did get to keep the first shelf! ![]()

I have a baker's rack in the kitchen that I use for storing the assortment of small appliances I've accumulated. I have a poorly designed kitchen with not much storage space.

@aroc3435 , I had a bakers rack many years ago in my kitchen area but replaced it with a kitchen hutch that that I use for seasonal decorative purposes, except for the bottom shelf is for cookbook storage! I'll try to post a picture for my "fall decor".

I have a Baker's Rack in the dining room and store decorative ceramic cookware (like Temptations) and glasses on it. I have a hutch in the kitchen that I store some of my small appliances. It has doors and a bottom drawer so everything is hidden away except what I have on top. It only stands about chest-high and I keep a cookie jar and my CE mini pressure cooker on top.

I have a bakers rack and a hutch in my dining room. The hutch covers one wall. I have my good dishes and pretty ones that I use for holidays and special occasions in it. The bakers rack has decorative stuff on it. I love both of them.
I really like the idea you have of putting decorative baskets on the bottom shelves to hold things. Great way to store things and still look very pretty.

A key for it to look nice is to keep similar colors together (or keep colors to a minimum). I would find baskets that are similar to the color of the bakers rack and if part of the pans stick out, it would be better if they all match each other. If you could post pics or provide more info on what you want to keep there, that would help.

@aroc3435 , off topic, but I love how you've placed your city in your signature at the end of the post. I am going to copy you. Great idea!

@Peaches McPhee I started stating my location a while ago since it helps when someone asks about a question that involves an area specific location such as does your grocery have/carry X brand of an ingredient or something similar where knowing a person's general area helps in understanding a question or answer.
For my thumbnail bio: born in New Jersey, at age 11 family moved to southeasteern Connecticut, then relocated to Newport, Rhode Island for college, marriage, and divorce, back to Connecticut where I lived and worked full time for 35 years, then retired and moved here to DC to be closer to grown daughter, son, and 4 young grandchildren.
