In case you haven't noticed, avocados by the pound have disappeared from stores.  Truckers in Mexico, where most come from, are so endangered by drug cartel thugs that shipments have ceased.  I bough a bunch of small ones at Wal-Mart for 59¢ each last week-end; now they have none.  Since they don't last long, I was thrilled to run across this helpful hint on Facebook.  Has anybody tried this?

@Kachina624

I never froze avocados, don't see why not. It should be OK to do so.  I heard on the news this evening that they "found a way" to protect the truckers and that avocados have resumed shipping.

@PhilaLady1    Good!  I've really enjoyed these small ones the past year or so, in lieu of a salad with my dinner often.  Maybe our avocados will be escorted by armed guards.  This was sure to hurt their economy.  They haven't arrived yet at my store.

They lifted the ban yesterday so they should be coming back soon. I read we only had a two weeks supply in the pipeline. I bought a ton of avocados this week in preparation for the ban. I picked the greenest and hardest ones I could find to make them last longer.

I've had some bad luck with avocados lately.  I've learn of this way if storage as well as wrapping them unpeeled in aluminum foil and stored in the fridge.  But today I learned a new one, keeping them submerged in a large container of water, in the fridge.  The second photo is supposedly after two weeks. 🤷‍♀️

I saw this on TikTok today. When mine start to get ripe I throw them in the fridge. They seem to keep a really long time that way.

There was a ban on importing Mexican avocados last week because of a threat made to an American inspector, but it has since been lifted.

What's to be expected? The news has been going on and on about avacado shortages. One reporter even said to go buy lots now. So yep, let's cause a run on avocadoes. And avocadoes are the TP of 2020. I will miss them come summer if things don't improve. but don't eat them now anyway.

That would be good news for many, @Bookplate
