Many of is have been the mom that didn't want to waste food and ate our children's leftovers.  Then, we were left with pounds to lose!

What do you do now when something home isn't right?  Do you eat it anyway?  See the item as "empty calories"?  Add something else to it?  What?

At that point, I'm done.  Give me the salad.

At this point, I absolutely will not do empty calories or get into the mindset we grew up with!

Re: Are You Going To Eat That?

My husband was like that............I used to take HIS leftovers to work for MY lunch.

If I'm hungry and only "junk" food is available....I stay hungry until I can obtain healthy food (work on avoiding this situation by usually having food/liquid with me).  If I have purchased food that is not good for me on a whim, I might take one bite and throw out the rest.  My ethics and health over ride economics and hunger.  This  has been a long process. Not tempted by leftovers either....trash or refrig.   Priority is health over wasting food/money.

I never eat food just because I don't want to waste it. If something isn't up to my standards I'll toss it if I no one else wants it ( my husband will eat almost anything though) and it can't be salvaged or repurposed.

When I was little I was forced to eat food I didn't want or like and I never did that to my own kids.

We very rarely eat out and I cook 90% of our food from scratch. The times we do eat out, leftovers belong to the person who ordered it at the restaurant. If they don't want it and offer it up, then whoever wants it can have it. Otherwise I don't even bring it home.

Re: Are You Going To Eat That?

@jaxs mom  I could have written your post as my own.

We Gs eat our meals for unmitigated pleasure and with gratitude, which is as much a health benefit as the nutrition they afford.  We view good food and drink as a blessing and not something to either fear or avoid.

Just this evening we shared Pork Tenderloin with grilled Grapes and Romaine and a bottle of Pinot Grigio.  It was a delicious meal that left us feeling happily satisfied.

Strive for respect instead of attention. It lasts longer.
