I bought several ring sets similar to yours at about the same time frame.
Mine are set in 14k gold and as good looking now as the day I got them.
I would go after the store where you had your set “repaired” since it appears that THAT STORE ruined your ring.
Although the stones are a question mark your SETTING looks fine, and if that’s the case, I don’t think you’d ever be satisfied with the “clads” of any kind.
I’d also take your rings to another jeweler and ask for an opinion regarding what happened to your stones and what can or should be done.
If your set IS 14k, it has more value as it is than any of the “clads” available now. That’s no knock on the clads, they’re just 2 different things.
I can’t imagine a decent responsible jeweler returning a piece looking like yours and pretending they’d done a good job.
I wish you luck on this. YOU are the customer and YOU are entitled to satisfaction.

@AdrienneK You should call Q customer service and see what they tell you. It's a beautiful set and in my opinion nothing they have now in the line compares to your ring. I would try the Q first and if for some reason they don't honor the lifetime guarantee I would forget buying anything from them and just go to a jeweler and have them replace the stone. It can't be that expensive. Good luck!

You received some really good advice. I'm so sorry this happened to your rings. I would be so upset. The jeweler should have offered to replace the stones with CZ's at no cost to you. It looks to me that they used too much heat too close to the stones and that caused the cracks. If you still love your set have the stones replaces with CZ's. They can be found on amazon and ebay. Or, you could go with a colored stone. Maybe a sapphire, ruby or even a Moissanite. I've been looking at Moissanite, and even asked the girls here for advice. I changed my marquise diamond to an oval but missed my marquise so much that I took it back to my jeweler to make the change. He wouldn't take my oval setting back though so I thought I would put another stone in it when I want to change my rings up. I would also take the advice of the girls here and give QVC a call to see if your stones are covered. I have no idea if they had the life time policy 21 years ago but it wouldn't hurt to ask. Let us know what you decide to do. Your set is beautiful so I hope you can get it taken care of.

Try Mossanite. I have a past present future ring which I love. Also a pair of stud earrings. A bit more expensive than a CZ but just as beautiful as a diamond! No one will know the difference.

@AdrienneK wrote:The center stone on the solitaire was definitely cubic zirconia. It's been 21 years so I don't remember if the "Diamonique" brand name was even out then. I don't remember about the stones on the ring guard either. I am too old (and not financially able to engage legal aid) at this point to go through a lot of legal issues. I just want a replacement set so my question about the platinum clad and 14kt clad is most important to me right now.
Yes, the Diamonique brand has been on QVC for more than 25 years.

If you still enjoy wearing the set you should find another jeweler and ask that the CZ stones be reset or replaced. CZ stones don't usually cost that much. Usually only $10 or $20 for individual nice-quality stones. The last jeweler I went to charged about $40 to reset a stone. You could probably get both stones replaced and reset for under $100.
Diamonique was definitely around 21 years ago. If you don't have receipts for the rings customer service can dig back through the microfilm in its archives and locate your receipts if you have an approximate age for the rings.
That must be very upsetting that the jeweler messed up your rings. I've had jewelers muck up pieces of jewelry I took in for very simple repairs, and I understand not wanting to pursue the matter and just find another more competent jeweler. Good luck!
I agree. You can buy cz’s at a jewelry store. I know because I did 3 years ago when I wanted to replace my stolen diamond ring and I couldn’t afford the diamond. No one knew that it wasn’t the real thing. I now have a diamond in my ring. I went to a very high end jewelry store where I have all of my jewelry fixed. I was surprised they had cz’s.

@AdrienneK wrote:I need to replace my wedding set (ring guard and oval solitaire each of which was originally purchased 21 years ago on QVC - see the picture). The set needed to be re-soldered and our regular jeweler had gone out of business. When the ring came back from the new jeweler, suddenly a stone fell out and the center stone just wasn't the same (very cloudy and crackled). We think they took out the original stones and replaced them but we can't prove it. I am heartbroken. Bottom line is I am looking for a long-time replacement wedding set but I am feeling very insecure about the terms "platinum clad" and "14kt clad" over sterling silver. What are your experiences with these rings? Do they tarnish early or easily? We simply cannot afford to replace the 14kt gold bands at this point. Should I stick with straight sterling silver and Diamonique? I am very unsure about the "clad" rings being long-lasting. The community's feedback would be really helpful in selecting a new set. Thank you in advance.
Your ring is lovely. I would replace the stone. The design is lovely. Moissainte would look great.

Wouldn't it be nice if someone at the Q would see this post and put a bug in the buyer's ear to bring this style back? 20 years ago I got a Diamonique wedding set similar to this. The guards were very similar and cut for the ring I chose was a 1 carat marquise. It was in 14kt and everyone just loved it. I lost it about 10 years ago and since then I've bought many others and even a moissanite to try to fill that void but nothing has satisfied me. I truly miss that design and this post makes me kinda sad that I'll never see it again. This month will be my 20 th anniversary.

I have those guards in yellow 14k, and how I wish I’d bought the white gold also.
These were excellent examples of QVC’s “Golden Era”.
It would be nice if the q would do an anniversary line. It would be pricy of course, but maybe some of us would make the investment if we could replace/add to some of our old favorites.

You can have a jeweler replace the crackled stone with a cz. Some jewelers are funny about working with cz's, kind of snobbish so find one that will. If you decide to buy a new one, I suggest buying a diamonique platinum clad in "white" metal color. I have many of these and even if the plating rubs off it will be silver underneath. When wearing rings, the only thing that really stands up to 24/7 wear is sterling silver or 14 kt. gold. If you can't afford that diamonique or Hsn's absolute is your best bet for now.
