Chrome diopsides or tsavorite garnets don't look like emeralds to me. They have a different kind of green color altogether. Emeralds have a slight blue cast to them and they also exhibit a unique internal glow unlike any other gemstone.
I own chrome, tsavo as well as a very good quality Colombian emerald. Other than them all being green in color, these three gems do not look alike and that is very evident to me when I put them side by side.
