It is and it's rotten, but this isn't QVC alone. Whenever I pay shipping, I pay tax on the cost to ship the item or items. It's as if shipping is included as part of the price of the product. I think it's wrong and that tax should be computed before shipping charges are added. It's bad enough to pay tax on every blessed thing, but shipping isn't a tangible product and we shouldn't be taxed for that part of an order.
Taxes are set by the laws of each State. I have to charge tax on my labor costs. QVC has nothing to do with the tax charges and they get no profit from them - they go directly to your State.

And perhaps if they kept their more reasonable flat rate charges, which incidentally did not apply across the board, they wouldn't need to keep toying with this already tenuously functional website.

QVC's weak link has always been its IT. This is most likely a glitch and hopefully it will be corrected quickly. With their outrageous shipping charges, no one wants to do a 2 step process of putting something in their cart to see what the shipping will be.
Maybe if no one ordered from .com today, they would take note.
edited to say I agree with the above poster 100%, stevieb

Glitch, well they must be having tons of glitches. Can't cancel or change an order an hour after it is placed. Shipping charges no longer shown. No, I think they don't want people to see the shipping charge after the $3-5 rates. Some people won't even look and assume it's the lower price. QVC plays so many games.

More and more online retailers are offering free shipping or flat rate shipping on all their items or on a minimum amount purchased. Sorry, but QVC is looking sneaky on this one!
Maybe QVC now has a shipping section as you described. Has anyone looked?

Yep - just the way they are when shipping if "free" elsewhere. As if!
If a company can sell a product for 38.97 with free shipping, why can't they sell it for 35.00 plus 3.97 for shipping?
Oh, right, naĂŻve people won't think they're getting something free and order more.
Sorry, but I much prefer the truth of QVC's type approach - and even though I don't love having to look for the total cost, that's the reality of the world we live in - too many shoppers react to the first number they see. That's why airlines charge one thing for a ticket and another for a ticket and baggage. Sad, but we do it to ourselves when we fll for "free" way too often.

You can view the shipping on the video portion of the item though. On 4/3/2014 funwun said: For those posters who state that other online retailers "hide" their shipping charges as well...those retailers usually have a "shipping" section where their rates can be viewed before you choose to shop...they also usually charge flat rates according to the amount of your purchase ( for example, $x.xx for orders under $50....$x.xx for orders under $100..etc ).
