I got my ears pierced by a GP doctor 51 yrs ago.  I bought a beautiful pair of coral earrings before I got my ears pierced ( to help get my nerve up).  After reading discussion on this board I got out a pair of studs, just to see if they went through my piercings (it's been 5 yrs since I last word earrings).  They went right in!
