I used to have double-pierced ears.  Haven't worn earrings in a while.  Now, no longer have pierced ears!!!Woman Frustrated

Do they still have ear-piercing placed in the malls?

Or, if I remember correctly, weren't there special earrings you could get that you could keep tightening until you repierced your lobes again?  I just can't do that ice-cube/needle thing - hate pain!

I have double holes.  The original are over 60 years old and never close.  The newer ones are youngsters at about 30 and I have to keep a eye on them.

If malls still exist, those young girls are not so good with their aim and can turn out odd, turned results.

I have always heard the old "core" remains and should not be done again.

Some have had good results with piercing studios.  They also have a selection of leave in, like for babies' use.

"weren't there special earrings you could get that you could keep tightening until you repierced your lobes again?"

"Back in da day" they were called self piercers.  Self piercers were only sold in jewelry stores.  If I remember correctly, they were solid gold.  It's what I used to pierce my nose nostral while still in high school-senior year.

At the ripe old age of 15 I had my ears pierced by my doctor.  At the ripe old age of 13, my daughter decided she wanted her ears pierced at the mall.  Hurt so bad, she refused to have the other done.  I ended up taking her to the doctors who pierced the other ear.  The doctor had their own gold ear studs.  You keep in your ears for 2 weeks while the whole time you kept turning them.  Also, you kept vaseline on the ear to prevent infection.

My granddaughters all had their ears pierced right after they were born right in the hospital!  Smiley Surprised  Hospital provided the earrings (gold studs).

I have four piercings in my ears, two in cartlidge, and the worst one was done at the mall in the early 70's.  The others were done at two different tattoo studios, they did an excellent job.  If interested call around and ask about the professional piercing they do there, who does it, what sanitizing protocols they have, etc.  Important info even if you're having re-dos and depending on the parlor you choose, far better than a jewelry store with a 19 yr old doing it.  JMHO

Reputable jewelry stores pierce ears. I don't know if you have to purchase anything or they just charge for the piercing. With the virus not sure if anyone would be doing that now.

I had mine done by a doctor 40 years ago.  I looked in the mirror when I got home and one was way off.  I immediately had a couple stiff drinks, martinis, I think, and re-pierced the bad one.  I doubt I could do that nowdays, especially since I don't drink anymore.

@eddyandme   IMHO, considering the sanitation issues in these "uncertain times" (won't miss never hearing that again), I think you should have them done in a doctor's office.

I have 2 holes in each lobe, plus a targus piercing, plus a rook piercing (I think that is what it is called).  Will get something else at some point, but not sure what. I think multiple piercings are a great look.

I don't know if they still have those earrings that you keep tightening to pierce your own ears!  Way back in the day, girls I knew would numb their lobes with ice cubes and then pierce with a needle.  Yikes!

I was not allowed to get my ears pierced until I was 16 and then my mother took me to our family doctor to get them done.  That was a joke!  He pierced one of my lobes lower than the other one!  Should have just gone to one of those places at the mall like I wanted to, but Mom thought the doctor would do a better job!

Many years later I got second piercings in each and wore tiny diamond studs in them and then later got a third piercing in one ear and wore a tiny ruby.  These days, I only wear earrings in the original piercings.  I'm sure the other piercings have closed up. I see so many people with piercings going all the way up their ears and I think -- wow --- I could never do that!!!
