I remember this one from the early 70's.  I was in my early 20's, newly married and I wanted to buy it for my mom.  At the time it cost one thousand dollars and of course I did not have the money.  I have 3 sisters so it would have been perfect for her.  Her birthday was Christmas day and it would have been the perfect gift.  She's gone now (13 years) and it stil haunts me that I couldn't get it for her

As a young adult collector of some things in the 80's and 90's, I have come to a conclusion about my collectables.

I either still love some of the lines, others, I'm kind of over. 

Those that I'm over, I have either gotten rid of totally, or scaled back to just a couple of pieces that mix in well with my decor or certain vignettes. 

Those that I still love, I have reduced somewhat, and still display/use them (mostly my Rowe pottery and smaller Longaberger baskets). 

When faced with a collection of things I either don't have the space for, but feel an emotional connection to (like inherited things), I figure out a way to keep one or two things and make them work in a small way. It keeps the memory of the person alive, or the time in my life that I was into and enjoying collecting, but doesn't require clutter or boxes of storage. 

I don't worry about lost money, as most things I've dealt with, I had for decades, and really did get my money's worth out of .
