I don't see why not as long as you don't need the extra warmth. You could also look for a very lightweight comforter to put inside. 

 

I have to admit, I don't wash the duvet cover as often as the sheets because of how difficult it is to get the comforter in there.  I have gotten faster but it is still a struggle.
