I have had them done in a place that did blinds and carpet.  It worked out well and was not expensive.  They also had a cleaning service for blinds.

Oh my..........I sent an email to a local business that said they can fix any blinds!   They said their starting rate is $99 for up to 4 feet, and then an additional $10 per foot!

I'll take it in, and keep my fingers crossed that maybe they'll say its a super easy fix and it will cost less.  If they want $99, I'm not sure what I'll do.  I don't like them having a "starting" rate.  I think the rate should be based on the amount of time that it takes them to fix the problem.  If my problem takes 5 minutes - it does not seem fair I would pay the same as a someone else that has a problem that could take an hour!

Wish me luck - I'll take it to the store tomorrow and let you know what happens!

Took the blinds in.  Yes, the fee is $99.  I asked if I could use the on-line $10 coupon and it got lowered to $89.  He looked at it and showed me what was broken and said they'll be able to fix it.  He said it'll take 3-4 weeks to get it back. (It is a small plastic part about the 1/2 inch long).

He did ask if it came from a room that had several of the same windows/blinds.  I said yes.   I "think" that may be he too was going to suggest I may just want to buy a new blind, but since it's in a room with several of the same and everything needs to match, he just nod his head.

Oh well, even though I think the starting price of $99 is ridiculous, I guess they can charge that as there are really no other stores (at least near me) that do what they do.  Now I just have to hope that all the other blinds hold up.  They came with the house when we bought it so I don't know how old they are.

@BunSnoop   Cheer up.  You are paying for their expertise and labor and you are supporting a local business.  How much do you guess it would cost you if this blind couldn't be fixed and you had to replace all 12 window blinds so they would match.

I do feel your discomfort, though.  Every time we have to replace a long ago item we are always shocked at the price jump.

Best,
