I like 100% Eqyptian Cotton in the summer & Flannel in the winter. I thought about trying the microfiber this winter but think I will stick with flannel. Malden Mills & other microfiber sheets are made from Ployester. That stuff is hot & does not breathe. Since I do get hot when I sleep sometimes I doubt I would like them.

Yes. They are both made from polyester.
Ah. No, I wouldn't buy those. I know they're popular and people claim they're so soft, but they're so soft because they're made from OIL! They're not soft, they're slick. Nice is different than good.

I think they are popular because they are inexpensive but there is no way I would sleep on polyester sheets or pillowcases.

No there is a big difference between microfiber sheets and micro fleece. The microfiber is smooth and looks like any cotton sheet. The fleece are fuzzy and very soft like a baby's blanket, and suited to cold weather.

It all depends on what you want from sheets. If you want soft, comfortable, durable, inexpensive, easy to care for sheets then microfiber is for you. If you want sheets to make a statement of some sort, and you don't mind spending more, having to do more work, having to replace them more frequently, then choose one of the other options. As for me, I don't view sheets as a status symbol. I just sleep on them and microfiber is perfect for me. I'd pay double the price (maybe more) to replace my microfiber sheets. They're just the best all around sheets I've ever slept on.

So glad to find someone else who is still using (and liking) their flannel sheets.
I purchased several sets of flannel sheets from NN probably going on 10 years ago, (back when they still had quality) and love them in the winter. I think they've gone 'out of style' and Q carries less of them all the time, but I sure wish I could get some more in that great old qualilty from the past.

I have two sets of microfiber sheets and I love them! They are very light and very soft. I purchased one set from hsn and the othe set from amazon. I dont find them to be hot. They feel like jersey sheets to me.
I also have a set by hsn called soft and cozy thats microfiber for winter that I love. Feel of fleece with out the overheating. Lightweight as well.
i had high thread count sheets and I prefer the microfiber.

Why the snotty remarks pointed at others who pay more for sheets that give them the kind of comfort they seek? Nobody here said that they purchase cotton sheets to impress anybody. To the contrary - everybody has stated that they buy the sheets they buy because they are more comfortable and durable for them.
It was absolutely unnecessary to insult a bunch of posters who happen to have a different opinion about, for crying out loud, freaking SHEETS.
Like others, if I tried sleeping on any type of polyester it would be a pretty bad night. I totally get that others have a different experience. Nothing wrong with EITHER choice. Geez, that's why choice is always good.

I have 2 sets of 1200 Thread Count Egyptian Cotton sheets (new on ebay) that cost $55 and 2 sets of 100% Modal sheets (BB&B) that cost about $65 with a coupon. I'd send you copies of the receipts, but I purchased all these sets at least 2 years or more ago, so I'm missing them. They're still in great shape and going strong.
I just priced a queen set of Microfiber sheets on QVC at $68 plus tax and S&H. So, it's not about making a statement, status symbols, or price. It's about personal preference based on your level of taste, and being a smart shopper.
