I had one of those for awhile until I gave in and got a Speed Queen. The only thing I could figure out on the low water washers was to try to trick it to think the tub was fuller and heavier and thus fill with more water. I would put on heavy duty and got a little more water.

I did not see this commercial washer in the store.
After 2 days of using the new GE washer, I knew it could not stay here, so I shopped online and found what model washer I wanted. Returned to the store, arranged for a pickup and return on the GE, paid and ordered the new Whirlpool washer. As soon as the Whirlpool washer arrived at my local store, they arranged next day delivery and picked up the GE.
I believe Lowe's also has other commercial washers besides Whirlpool.

@RedTop This is all good to know. I am all set with my Speed Queen but several friends that are not happy with what they have. I will pass this along to them.

My last three washers have been front loaders--2 GE's and now an LG. Honestly? I've never paid attention to the water level! I mostly use the "Normal" or "Bedding/Bulky" settings, Cold or Tap Cold water (except for towels/cotton undies, etc) and my clothes come out clean & fresh.
I'll never have another top-loader of any brand...they make the tubs so deep now that I can't reach to the bottom without standing on tiptoe!

@wakefield64 I know the feeling! My old washer would wash a load in 30 minutes and it now takes an hour. The water usage is another story that chaps me terribly also. I am on my third washer in 36 years and I can not say they are getting better.

I feel the same but we are living in a new world (order) and we might not have washing machines in a few years if it keeps going this way and even so, I would have to choose between washing my clothes and buying groceries because groceries and electricity are so high now, that it strains an already stretched retirement income.

@santorini wrote:Yes!!! I played around and did some stupid things after a google search. One article said to fill large water bottles with water and add to the load and that would fool the washer into thinking the load weighed more and that more water was needed. HA! It did not work and the lids came off of the bottles within a minute or two. Don't try it.
I finally discovered that when I use the delicate cycle (even if it's for non-delicate items), it uses more water. The lighter the load (on delicate), the more water it uses. A load of 5 towels won't get as much water as a load containing 2 shirts, but it is definitely more water than I get when I use all of the other cycles (normal, etc.).
I realized that just by watching it. If you have one of the washers with the window in the lid, you can watch and see but you are right. It absolutely does.

If there was only a way to get the quality and common sense back into our appliances! Its deplorable that we have to lessen our load sizes and add double rinses and extra sanitizer just to feel like our clothes are cleam.
